For GMSO, efficiency is everything. We’re working to build a new fleet of oceanographic research vessels that are designed to do more with less. Ranging from 60-110 feet, these smaller, fuel-efficient ships will offer high capability for coastal and smaller science operations. With minimal crews of 2-5 and space for 4-12 science members, these vessels will allow up to 5+ days of continuous offshore work, making ocean research accessible to projects with small budgets. Equipped and staffed to support a range of scientific missions, our future fleet will keep costs low without compromising quality. 🌊 Discover more about our vision for future vessel capabilities at https://lnkd.in/g46vTykp #OceanResearch #GMSO #AffordableScience #EfficientVessels #SmallerShips #CoastalResearch #ScienceFleet

🌊 Introducing the Greenwater Foundation 🌍 We’re proud to introduce the Greenwater Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 2023 to support ocean scientists by coordinating affordable access to vessels and ocean science assets worldwide. While we at GMSO work to build our fleet, the Foundation operates independently, leading marine conservation and humanitarian efforts by uniting global partners—governments, universities, NGOs, and private companies. 🌐🤝 Exciting initiatives are on the horizon at the Foudnation, including a 🌐 Research Vessel Database App to streamline access for researchers - and new coastal mapping projects that will provide essential data to protect fragile ecosystems. Stay tuned! 🌊 Connecting with Global Ocean Leaders 🌍 From the International Research Ship Operators (IRSO) Forum in Vancouver, our CEO, G. Mark Miller shared: "The world’s research vessel operators come together every year to exchange ideas and establish relationships. I’m surrounded by the Chinese, Taiwanese, German, Canadian, and Irish delegations, as well as my old friends from NOAA, including my old shipmate, Rear Admiral Amanda Geoller." Mark proudly represented GMSO’s mission to expand our fleet and support marine research worldwide, engaging with delegations from around the globe. 🌐🚢 IRSO unites 49 organizations from 30 countries, all focused on advancing marine science—an amazing opportunity to share ideas, build partnerships, and tackle the challenges of ocean research together!
