Don’t forget that this week is National School Lunch Week! We appreciate our Child Nutrition staff serving our children healthy meals on a daily basis!

Our district had an outstanding turnout for our elementary multilingual education family night. Students were recognized for meeting English proficiency reclassification criteria during the event. The purpose of the event was to send a strong message to our students and families that their languages and cultures are important assets in our schools and community and that bilingualism matters. Parents heard tips about raising bilingual children and received bilingual books and resources to use at home. We appreciate all the community members who came to share as well: Boys and Girls Clubs, PASOs, Greenwood City Police, Greenwood Promise, Greenwood Adult Education, Greenwood First Steps, United Way, Greenwood County Library, and Rotary Club sponsoring Dolly Parton Books.

Congratulations to GHS School Counselor/Tennis Coach Howard Green on being the recipient of the 2024 USTA South Carolina Rivers Lynch Coach of the Year award! Mr. Green will be recognized along with other USTA SC award winners at the USTA SC Annual Meeting in Hilton Head in November.

The D50 Trolley rolled through Mays, Westview, and Transportation yesterday spreading some D50 swag! Thanks to our awesome teachers, staff, and bus drivers for all you do for our children! #D50together

The D50 T-shirt Trolley continued rolling around the district yesterday morning at Merrywood and Northside. Dr. Glenn and his Cabinet enjoyed delivering T-shirts and thank you’s to the teachers and staff at both schools. We appreciate all of their hard work this year!

Keep Greenwood County Beautiful's Shred & E-Waste day will be held on Saturday, October 26 at St. Mark United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. The event provides document shredding and e-waste recycling to Greenwood residents free of charge.

Mathews and Emerald were the next two stops on the D50 T-shirt Trolley’s tour through D50 yesterday morning. Dr. Glenn and his Cabinet provided t-shirts and appreciation for everyone’s hard work this school year. Thank you to the Bulldogs and Vikings for educating our children!

The new “Middle School Football City Championship Belt” will be awarded to the winner of the middle school football city championship later this Fall. Thank you to Mr. Michael Polson for assisting our district with creating this new tradition in middle school football!

The D50 T-shirt Trolley received a warm welcome from Lakeview teachers and staff yesterday morning. We appreciate the teachers and staff working hard every day to make a difference in the lives of our children!

The RTC Lunchbox recently served meals to attendees at the iMagine STEAM Festival in Uptown Greenwood. The purposes of the event is to ignite the interest of students in the Lakelands in STEAM learning and career pathways.
