Each year, employers that are subject to ERISA and must electronically file an annual report (Form 5500) for each employee benefit plan they maintain unless a filing exemption applies. Employers with employee benefit plans that operate on a calendar year basis must file their annual reports for 2023 with the DOL by Wednesday, July 31, 2024. An employer may extend this deadline by 2.5 months (until Oct. 15, 2024) by filing Form 5558 with the IRS by July 31, 2024. Small welfare benefit plans (fewer than 100 covered participants) that are unfunded or fully insured (or a combination of unfunded and insured) are exempt from the Form 5500 filing requirement. Reach out to your G&A Benefits Consultant or Service Team for more guidance on how/where to submit.

Last week our Diversity, Equity & Belonging and Wellbeing committees hosted a Walk & Talk with Sampson Levingston of Through2Eyes. The group walked along Indiana Avenue to learn the city's rich history – including how some of the streets got their names, seeing the Lady Sunday mural and touring the former African Methodist Church now a Hilton Hotel. Check out what some of the participants had to say about their experience! "I enjoyed being present at the locations of buildings and sites along the tour while being able to see pictures of what the area used to look like." "Living in a place for a long time or even your whole life, does not mean you know all about the location. Hearing history through someone else's eyes broadens your perspective. Learning how a place came to be, the reasons for change over time and the pivotal events that have taken place can bridge divides in culture, communities and individuals." "I loved the experience of us talking and looking at the photos, green books and red lining images after the tour. It was a moment for us to start unpacking what we learned and how it related in other ways to today and what it meant for all of us."
