This last week we were able to watch another remote Alaskan village utilize solar and energy storage along with the Ageto ARC microgrid controller (commissioned by Ageto rockstar Justin Williams 😎 ) to have the generators fully turn off for the first time since having power in that village, in fact they were able to keep the generators off (80 hours) more than on (77 hours) during the entire week! 🎉 🔋 🌞 🙌 Village electrical Load (orange) met 100% of the time😎 With these types of systems the ARC controller integrates the solar and storage to offset the diesel generators, even running renewable only (shown below) when conditions allow. ARC controls all assets (PV, generators and energy storage) so that the batteries seamlessly take over the load, keeping the lights on for the villagers without even a flicker. "A whopping 473 gigawatts of clean energy capacity was installed last year, yet another indicator of the rapid rise of solar and wind power. This is up from 308 GW the year before and nearly double the amount in 2021. Last year, renewables accounted for nearly 86 percent of new electricity capacity worldwide, according to new data from the International Renewable Energy Agency. Because so many renewable energy facilities were built last year, far more than in any other year, clean energy now makes up around 43 percent of global electricity capacity.
