Groundwork Lawrence (GWL), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has been making change happen since its early beginnings in 1999. Through its environmental and open space improvements, fresh food access and healthy living programs, youth education, employment initiatives, and community programming and events, GWL creates the building blocks of a healthy community, and empowers Greater Lawrence residents to improve their quality of life. GWL achieves results by engaging the whole community – residents, youth, non-profits, government and businesses – in the planning and realization of its projects. With this collaborative approach, GWL ensures that all stakeholders are mutually invested in its outcomes, the key to stable neighborhoods and sustainable change.

🌎♻️ Giving Clothes a Second Life | Dándole una segunda vida a la ropa ♻️🌎 In the U.S., 25 billion pounds of textiles are thrown away every year—but they don’t have to be! 45% can be reused, 30% turned into wiping cloths, and 20% recycled into new products. Thanks to Bay State Textiles, the 1,100 pounds of clothing we collected will have a better future instead of ending up in a landfill. A big shoutout to Luly, our Urban Forestry Coordinator, for reaching out and encouraging us to take action! 👉 Every item saved makes a difference. Let’s keep working toward a more sustainable future! -- En EE.UU., cada año se desechan 25 mil millones de libras de textiles, ¡pero no tiene que ser así! El 45% puede reutilizarse, el 30% convertirse en paños de limpieza y el 20% reciclarse en nuevos productos.
