As a candidate for the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) National Advisory Board, one of my primary goals is to advocate for increased infrastructure investment. No surprise, you've all heard that from me before. But how? If we are going to advocate for investment in our facilities, we must also promote the importance of the facility management profession itself. This includes education, networking and communication beyond the current membership of the ASHE organization. As an example, I recently published an article in Facility Executive, a publication managed by Group C Media. An ASHE publication? No. A reference source for facility executives in multiple industries, including health care? Yes. Innovation requires more than just new ideas; it also requires a commitment to action and the ability to execute. I am ready for this challenge. Thank you to Group C Media for being tremendous hosts at the Business Facilities magazine Live xChange Emerging Industries event in Columbus, OH! It was great to represent DMA - DuCharme, McMillen & Associates, Inc. and have an incredible multi-day, fast paced event which featured visits to a couple of Columbus’s key destinations - the ‘Shoe and National Veterans Memorial and Museum. Following that were great engagements with leading economic development officials from throughout the country! I really enjoyed learning about what’s driving growth in these communities, industries they’re focused on attracting, and partnerships they’ve formed to meet the needs of their growing populations to serve both residents and businesses alike.
