We are just blushing over here with Stephanie Robertson's kind words 😊 💙 We always are proud of LiveSlides, so hearing her say she is "obsessed" with them is much appreciated! Stephanie is a Product Manager at Biomedical Research Laboratories where during a recent research project she leveraged GroupSolver's platform to help her gather insights quickly and with all the team support she needed. A few thoughts on political polling to start your Friday...

I read The New York Times every morning (minus election polls, for reasons I described the other day), so I was happy to see an article related to what we deal with every day in market research. This piece describes well many of the issues that are all too familiar to anyone in our industry. The big question is "what now?" Online posts suffer from many quality issues. Steven Snell of RepData shares horror stories on fake respondents daily, and some demographics that show up to vote are notoriously hard to reach reliably at the cost that makes online polls quick and scalable. But telephone interviews are as bad. If you read small print, for example for the NY Times/Sienna College telephone polls, the conversion rates are atrocious, making you wonder what systematic information they are missing. The good news to me is that we can use ever more sophisticated models to tune out some of the noise and focus on the signal that matters. The signal is really there, and it is not hiding particularly well. I am a bit surprised that we don't see (at least not in public) more sophisticated AI-assisted quant qual models that should give us reasonably reliable projections. The FiveThirtyEight has the right idea, and while I am not following any individual polls, I do check them out, because I think they incorporate more signal into their probabilistic view of election outcomes. I would love to see more of that. With wide availability of large models and computational power, I imagine we will see a whole bunch of new platforms like that pop up after these elections. Yes, we need a few election cycles to calibrate those models, but they are coming. In the meantime, let's keep on polling with all our warts and issues. It will all be useful feed into making election forecasts better. (But do remove those bots from your data!)

I am tuning out presidential election polls. Why? The signal that matters is getting lost in the noise. But it is there. What is that signal, you ask? Here is TL’DR: ✅Presidential elections will be decided by independents in the swing states ✅The one issue that matters to independent voters is the economy 💸 ✅Trump was beating the Democratic ticket on the economy ever since we started tracking it in January… ✅… but after Harris replaced Biden, and particularly since Harris vs Trump debate, Harris has caught up to Trump on the issue. ✅More importantly, she appears to be beating Trump on being believable on the “middle class economy” plan ✅Our data shows that formerly undecided independent voters in swing states have largely made up their minds, and Kamala Harris is winning strong majority of those decisions, particularly among women. Am I ready to call these presidential elections based on this signal? For my own peace of mind, I am. With the strong US economy less than 7 weeks to go before the elections, and seeing that Harris is convincing independent voters to trust her on the issue, it is a safe bet. As it turns out, it has been about the economy all along… If you want to look at the data I am looking at, you can find it here: https://lnkd.in/enb5NBN7

With just under 2 months until the #presidentialelections and many twists & turns from both campaigns, it's safe to say that it really could be anyone's for the taking... In this month's elections pulse check, we asked #Independent likely voters who they plan to vote for post-debate and candidate switch. And to no one's surprise, it's not just about liking #Trump or #Harris, but WHO sells the better story about the #economy. So what have we found so far? ...and we are BACK with some more #research wisdom 🧠 our next piece of advice is: 4️⃣ Date your survey before making the big commitment Running a big quant survey can be a real undertaking. So many questions to ask, so many hypotheses to explore. What question should stay in, what question to cut? Having only one shot at collecting the data, you better get it right the first time. Right? Maybe not! Way back when (a couple of years ago), refining and testing your survey to cut down on the unnecessary “let’s ask this just in case it matters” questions would have been a time consuming and involved process. You don’t need to make that trade-off now. With dynamic surveys, you can start building your survey bit-by-bit, run it in small batches, and learn from it before you commit to the full-scale launch. We found that prioritizing AI open-ended questions early on helps me understand how my respondents think, and in turn it allows me to decide which hypotheses we want to keep and which to cut from the survey. Ultimately, this dynamic survey approach produces tighter and more enjoyable surveys for respondents to take and for me to analyze. Imagine the world in which you could reach your future customers before they even thought about buying your product.  Imagine knowing who they are, what they like and how they want to be talked to. Seem impossible? What if we told you that we have done just that...👀 With the help of our friends at RevOptimal, we combined our AI-powered customer research with their advanced lookalike models to build an ideal customer blueprint. We then found specific consumers who match that blueprint based on their demographics, behaviors, and attitudes.    Check out our case study, in which we talked to Gen Z-ers who are (finally!) moving out. They are about to start thinking about their new homes and making brand new purchase decisions. Whether it be Tide, Lysol or Dawn, we uncovered what brands are making their marks with those Gen Z already and, ultimately, where can those customers be found.  But this is just the beginning. We pride ourselves in not just providing high quality research, but also team support & customer service to our clients. Soooo here's a little humble brag for you all 🙈 Our friend Mitch Ratcliffe from Intentional Futures recently worked with our team at GroupSolver on a pricing survey. He loved the experience so much he wanted to share it with the 🌍 Here is what he had to say: "GroupSolver collaborated with Intentional Futures to rapidly understand our client's global pricing sensitivity analysis needs. Rasto Ivanic and his team designed an instrument that allowed respondents to clarify their needs, using AI in a creative way that lets people disambiguate the meaning of complex marketing language, which eliminated the need for manual scoring of the results. The result was a complete, actionable survey result and analysis delivered to the client in less than a month from kick-off. Bravo, GroupSolver." Thanks, Mitch, for the kind words!
