You'd be surprised how many people are out there doing it completely terrified. A reminder not everyone is as cool and collected as they seem. Not everyone has it all figured out. But what matters is that they are taking action anyway. They're making a choice that aligns with where they want to go. And that’s as brave and noble as any achievement. Your fear doesn't disqualify you from success. ✌️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸?

We took a motorhome trip out west last week with the kids, the dog, and Ed's mom. It was my third time in the Black Hills, and every visit leaves me in awe of the landscape, geologic formations, and the brightest stars I’ve ever seen. One of the highlights was visiting Devils Tower. My kids learned that it was formed millions of years ago as magma pushed up through sedimentary rock layers, cooling and solidifying deep underground. Over time, the surrounding softer rock eroded away, leaving behind this resilient, 867-foot-tall structure. Its strength comes from a deep foundation of solidified magma, allowing it to withstand the test of time and the elements. As I looked up at it, I couldn’t help but think about how much taller and more confident I stand when I know who I am. When I’m rooted in the foundation of my core values. In tomorrow's newsletter, we’re uncovering why your core values matter and how defining (or solidifying) yours can help you live a more purposeful and authentic life. If you'd like to join us, subscribe with the 📌 link in the comments below. What’s your favorite travel destination that gives you a new perspective?

Hey there. A secret I've learned over the last 18 months of my weekly writing practice: You get to write the way you want to write. Forget incomplete sentences. If your goal is to connect, make it easy for your reader. Try simple, choppy words. Or write like you talk. Or just experiment. But the simple truth is this: If folks don't read your 1st line, they're never going to get to the 2nd. If they don't get to the 2nd line, they're never going to get to the 3rd. Write for them, in the way only you (not AI) can. ✌️ p.s. I'm Colleen. I help business owners grow with purpose.

[tap tap] Is this thing on? 🎤 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝗼𝗻: As the old saying goes: "Don't skimp on anything that separates you from the earth." Your tires. Your shoes. Your mattress. Anything that grounds you is worth investing in. It’s about quality, comfort, and long-term investment in your well-being. I was reminded last week when I wore a cheap pair of shoes to an all-day conference. Big mistake. 🥴 𝗜𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝗼𝗻: 1. 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 & 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 I see too many companies only scratching the surface of understanding their buyer's drivers and market position. 2. 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 Understanding and aligning on why your business exists and how you will show up in the world - will solve so many future problems. 3. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 There’s nothing worse than random marketing tactics that don’t align with business objectives. Whether it’s life or business, the ground beneath you matters. Always. ✈️ p.s. I simplify the path to growth for business owners. Buy back your time. "I'll take 2 days please." Many years ago, I found myself on the verge of major burnout. I was trying to do it all, to prove to everyone I was invincible. My breakdown happened in a coffee meeting. When it was my turn to share, I just burst into tears. I felt so embarrassed until my coffee colleague shared a similar experience of having a breakdown in their office. Almost everyone takes on too much at some point and becomes a victim of the "I have to" mindset. After coffee that day, I made the decision that I would never get so lost with how I spend my time -- and my life. Buy back your time. Here are 7 things that made the biggest difference to start owning my time and living intentionally. 1. Audit Your Time Like a CEO 2. Embrace the Power of No 3. Schedule, Delegate, Automate, Delete 4. Use Time Blocking (Secret Weapon) 5. Pareto Your Priorities with the 80/20 Rule 6. Invest in Systems 7. Schedule Your Leisure Time Tomorrow in my newsletter I'll break down each of these into actionable steps. It's never, ever, too late to reinvent yourself. This is a theme that's been emerging with my network lately. A reader of my newsletter reached out to me recently and asked: "Would love to hear ideas on how to make career pivots post-50 (I’m 51 and will be in a spot to make a potential career pivot in 1-2 years but unsure how to best approach)." I had some ideas, but I'm convinced that getting people together with different perspectives working on a problem creates the best outcome. So I posed the question to my outstanding LinkedIn network. Here's what we uncovered to help you navigate a career pivot age 50+ (or anytime!). We focused on the goal of bringing you joy, aligning you with a sense of purpose, and enabling the flexibility you desire for this phase of life. 1. Answer the 6 Important Questions 2. Find your Ikigai 3. Invest in you and build leverage 4. Set your goals and break them down 5. Believe change is always possible 6. Never stop learning Tomorrow we break down each of these in my newsletter. (Any I think it applies to anyone considering a career pivot.) Stress is inevitable, suffering is optional. When you start owning your narrative around stress, something magical happens. You shift from being a passive victim to being the empowered architect of your life. Instead of letting stress bend you, you bend stress to your will. You channel it into fuel. Fuel for resilience. Fuel for change. Fuel for growth. It's not easy. And it's terrifying. It takes time to change your thoughts. But remember... Stress creates diamonds. Stress sculpted the Grand Canyon. Stress makes your body metahuman. Owning your stress, not avoiding it, is the way through. ✌️ p.s.
