Several Grow Southeast Alabama members attended "The Sustainable Future of CLT in the South: Grow. Design. Build." conference at Auburn University this week. GSEA Board Member and Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce President Matt Parker participated as a panelist on the Economic Development Panel Discussion with EDPA President Greg Barker, SmartLam North America CFO Brian Davison, City of Auburn Deputy Director of Economic Development Arndt Siepmann, and Alabama Forestry Commission Economic Developer Al Jones. It was a great conference full of valuable information!

Coffee County received a $5.7M grant through Alabama’s Site Evaluation and Economic Development Strategy (SEEDS) program that will enable the purchase of nearly 300 acres to expand and develop industry-ready sites at the Enterprise Commerce Park. Senator Britt secured $7.16 million in Justice related congressionally directed spending in the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2025. Exciting news for the City of Dothan and Houston County! Today, the Wiregrass delegation of state legislators presented a $3.9 million check to the Industrial Development Board of Dothan. This SEEDS Funding will be used to develop the new Westgate Supersite, a game-changer for our local economy. This new industrial site will be over 400 acres and will make our region even more attractive to larger manufacturing companies considering expanding or relocating to Alabama. Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair, EDAA Executive Director Jim Searcy, Mayor Mark Saliba, Houston County Chairman Brandon Shoupe, City and County Commissioners, Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, and other Commerce employees were on hand for today's check presentation. A huge thank you to our Wiregrass delegation, Sen. Donnie Chesteen, Rep. Steve Clouse, Rep. Paul Lee, Rep. Jeff Sorrells, and Rep. Rick Rehm, for their tireless efforts in driving economic development in our region.
