Welcome GFX24 Speaker, Christopher Earl! Christopher Earl, appointed in December 2022 as the Assistant Deputy Director, Innovation & Entrepreneurship for the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) Business Advocate within the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development. Previously, Earl was appointed as the Southern California Regional Advisor at the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development in September 2020. Prior to his role within state government, Christopher served at Riverside Community College District where he held several positions from 2012 to 2020, most recently as Executive Director of Economic Development and Entrepreneurship, District Director of the Office of Grants and Contracts, Statewide Director of the Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program, and Assistant Director of the TriTech Small Business Development Center serving the Southern California small business Innovation ecosystem. Mr. Earl has spent the last 15 years supporting small businesses and developing new aspiring entrepreneurs. Earl, an alumnus of South Carolina State University, holds an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and his post-graduate studies at California State University San Bernardino include post-baccalaureate studies in Technology Transfer and commercialization, as well as a Master’s in Entrepreneurial Management & Marketing from CSUSB. Christopher was a member of an exclusive cohort program designed by California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Department of the Navy (DoN), and the Army Research Lab (ARL) as part of the Integrated Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) fellowship program. This week, we celebrated our final weekly intern meeting of the summer with presentations of work completed and lessons learned. We are so impressed with the level of talent, creativity, and commitment that this group brought to the table and we continue to be energized by working alongside and offering opportunities for our next gen entrepreneurs, investors and leaders. From supporting in development of go to market strategies for startups and drafting deal memos for our investment team review to creating and managing content strategy for GFX, they added a ton of value while building a portfolio of marketable projects and skills. We are going to miss them!!

Joe Morris is the Chief Innovation Officer for e.Republic and a national keynote speaker on issues, trends and drivers impacting state and local government and education. He has authored publications and reports on funding streams, technology investment areas and public-sector priorities, and has led roundtables, projects and initiatives focused on issues within the public sector. Joe has conducted state and local government research with e.Republic since 2007 and knows the ins and outs of government on all levels. He received his Bachelor of Arts in government and international relations from the California State University, Sacramento.
