Problem: Being Lonely Sucks.
Solution: Find Your People. 👇
This picture with my co-ed business fraternity, Phi Chi Theta Business Fraternity (Phi Chi Theta - Alpha Mu Chapter), captures a moment of joy after we won our soccer playoff intramural game. But it means so much more than just a win on the field...
Before I joined this co-ed business fraternity, I felt alone at one of the biggest colleges in the world. I was far from home and uncertain about my place. But once I "found my people," everything changed. Surrounding myself with like-minded individuals who pushed me to be the best version of myself helped me grow in ways I never expected.
I was able to get referrals from top companies like: IBM, Microsoft, Google, and even the role I chose at LinkedIn!
If you look at the picture, I am proud to say my friends all work at top companies such as EY, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, Capital One, Bank of America, and more!
Being part of a supportive community not only improved my personal development but also gave me a sense of belonging. I started enjoying life more—having fun with new friends, learning, and growing together.
This concept is essential, whether you’re in high school, navigating college, a recent grad stepping into adulthood, or even someone looking to build connections later in life.
So, how do you find your people? Here’s a simple framework:
1. Reflect on Your Interests:
- What are you passionate about? Think about the activities or subjects that excite you.
2. Research Local Organizations:
- Look for clubs, fraternities, or interest groups related to your passions. Universities, community centers, and online platforms (like Meetup) are great places to start.
3. Attend Events:
- Go to meetups, workshops, or social gatherings. Put yourself out there—yes, it can feel daunting, but the right people are often waiting to connect!
4. Engage on Social Media:
- Join relevant groups or follow pages that resonate with you. Engaging with like-minded individuals online can lead to real-life connections.
5. Be Open and Authentic:
- Don’t be afraid to share your journey and experiences. Authenticity attracts the right people into your life.
Finding your people is about building connections that uplift and inspire you. So, whether you’re just starting out or looking to expand your circle, remember that a supportive community is out there, waiting for you.
Let’s continue to uplift one another and create spaces where we can all thrive!
