Here comes the sun 😎 ☀... just in time for our CHRSE-Workshop. Last week's rain has vanished and we were able to demonstrate the data-generation of the Headwall - NanoHP on the DJI - M300. Tomorrow we will continue with the post-processing and data-analysis. So far we already had interesting talks and discussions with participants! #geokonzept #headwall #hsi #hyperspectral #drones #remotesensing #proximalsensing #sensors #workshop #chrse

“Hopped” over to #Bavaria this morning to visit our Headwall and geo-konzept GmbH colleagues at their annual workshop on #hyperspectral and #lidar drone sensing to learn more about GRYFN’s European counterparts. Good thing #Oktoberfest doesn’t start until Saturday, the drive from München highlighted that the hops harvest is in full swing and it’s awfully distracting!

California Farmer "Dad Joke" - How do you harvest "ammonds?" You shake the "L" out of them! (Sorry, as midwestern kids, we laugh every time) This week, GRYFN is in northern #California (thank you, blue skies), supporting #Spanish scientists from the Bexyl Project as the almond harvest is rolling. Our lead pilot, Ryan Riley, is in triple-digit temperatures operating our flying lab we call Sonoran: a Headwall #VNIR and #SWIR #hyperspectral sensor, a 32-channel Velodyne Lidar, and even a thermal camera on an Freefly Systems #AltaX as the Bexyl Project team uses ground sampling and multiple remote sensing resources in the fight against Xylella fastidiosa. BeXyl means “Beyond Xylella.” Xylella fastidiosa is one of the most threatening plant pathogens in the world. It’s a bacterium originally discovered in grapevines affected by Pierce’s disease. Several variants and strains of X. fastidiosa are known worldwide, and "more than 650 plant species can be colonized by one or more strains of the bacterium. In several plant species, like grapevine, almond, oleander, orange, peach, citrus, coffee, avocado, olive tree, and oak." Rather than ship their own sensors and flight crew, navigate the rules and regs for foreign pilots, worry about batteries, etc., the Bexyl Project team turned to GRYFN to collaborate on research quality airborne data collection while their experts were in study areas impacted by the Xylella fastidiosa. BeXyl is an EU-funded research project "aiming to secure and exploit the research outcomes achieved by advancing and transferring into practice the most promising prevention and containment strategies." In collaboration with Purdue Agriculture, our CEO Matthew Bechdol will offer the first in a series of three short webinars on remote sensing concepts, value, tradeoffs, and considerations for agricultural research. Tomorrow's session covers the basics for those new to remote sensing or non-practicing managers, decision-makers, and other stakeholders. Subsequent sessions will dive into considerations, tradeoffs, trends, economics, etc. Webinar 1: Understanding Remote Sensing: Concepts, Value, Applications, and Accessibility Date: August 27, 2024 | Time: 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM EST For more info and registration: https://lnkd.in/d28U3wiC

🚀 More exciting Gobi news from the GRYFN Team! 🚀 You #hyperspectral + #LiDAR users out there know...connect cables, download this, download that, manage multiple drives and cards and sticks... We're thrilled to share a sneak peek of a new Gobi-specific feature in our GRYFN Processing Tool software! With a single ethernet connection, automatic mission queries are now at your fingertips, simplifying access to your hyperspectral, LiDAR, and #GNSS-INS data acquisitions. No more juggling multiple drives or multiple connections and sensor files— everything is seamlessly integrated into archived, human-readable, non-proprietary, and processing-ready data! Watch pilot Ryan Riley's one-minute demo of this new user-friendly feature in action. Stay tuned for more updates and demos showcasing the innovative user experience enhancements we're adding to Gobi! SBG Systems Headwall Ouster

Now we just need another visit to address Matthew Bechdol ‘s #AussieRules addiction!
APPN is delighted to partner with @GRYFN_IO to deploy the GOBI sensor across Australia. It will bring a new level of sensor resolution, integration & positioning. We're expecting heavy demand for this best-in-class capability. @AustplantPhenom #NCRISImpact You can ready more about what we are up to in our recent blog: wp.me/p9rQoW-5HB

We get asked a lot about "GRYFN"...why the name, why the history, and what's this about desert-named products? Sorry to disappoint, but no 🧙♂️ Harry Potter 🧙♂️ themes...but Purdue University history and mythology abound in our quick background story!
Why GRYFN…and Why GOBI?
