Our CEO, Elicia Pegues Spearman, visited Camp Laurel and Camp Merrie-Wood this week and got to see firsthand the positive impacts that summer camp has on Girl Scouts!

I was excited to visit 2 of our Girl Scouts of Connecticut camps: Laurel and Merrie-Wood. There is nothing better then seeing happy youth leaning , exploring and making new friends. Camp Laurel is our overnight camp and we had campers from Ledyard, Stamford,Bridgeport, Hamden, Groton, Glastonbury, Hartford, Meriden and so many more places. Our Camp Directors, Counselors in Training, Trading Post team and everyone else on site makes it such a memorable and meaningful camp experience. The power of camp - Girl Scouts of Connecticut My daughter had such a wonderful time that she was crying when she left. This camp fosters an environment where each camper is free to be themselves without any judgement. I haven’t seen my daughter this happy and free since she was a daisy/brownie. Thank you for creating such a wonderful, inclusive, accepting environment. My daughter would love to be a CIT next year and also attend more weeks of camp. Big thank you to all the counselors, CIT’s, and campers. This was just what my daughter needed. #getoutside Girl Scouts of the USA

We had an awards ceremony and several camp activities ranging from archery, swimming, craft projects and of course we had s’mores. I'm thrilled to share that I have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award for my project, Empowering Dreams! 🌟 Empowering Dreams is an initiative dedicated to providing our youth with the resources they need to gain career knowledge and help combat gender stereotypes. Through this project, I have interviewed accomplished women to share their stories and provide advice to young people, aiming to provide role models to inspire and empower youth. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts, recognizing projects that demonstrate extraordinary leadership, impact, and sustainability.
