We are very excited to bring this event to a new, larger venue! We will be joined by 31 companies from a wide range of industries. We look forward to seeing you there!!! Thank you to everyone who made today's AIChE Lunch & Learn with Syensqo a success! Today, students heard from John Cochran, who discussed valuable information about Syensqo. As a company they have more than 13,000 employees at 62 industrial sites with many locations across the U.S. Syensqo is a leader in creation of materials for civil aerospace and defense, as well as polymers, surfactants, and even fragrances! John also discussed Syensqo's commitment to renewable materials and sustainable battery options. After this introduction to the company, we heard about the specifics of the Syensqo Internship program and even heard from a previous GT Syensqo intern! Syensqo will be represented again at Clearinghouse coming up next week on 9/11 from 2-5 in the Exhibition Hall! Thank you so much to those who were able to join us today! Thank you to everyone who made yesterday's AIChE Lunch & Learn with Dow a success! Today, students heard from Ana Girardot, an Operations Turnaround Coordinator with Dow. She discussed Dow's commitment to sustainability and their "Ambition in Action" initiatives. Dow is a chemical company supporting the production of plastics, coatings, polyurethanes, feedstocks, and much more! They have 104 manufacturing sites in 31 countries and are also very committed to local community outreach and ID&E programs. Dow will be returning to Tech for Clearinghouse on 9/11, so reach out to them there! Thank you so much to those who were able to join us today! Thank you to everyone who made this semesters' very first AIChE Lunch & Learn with Solenis a success! Today, students heard from Paul Robertson and Dan Muller. Solenis is a leading company in specialty chemicals. They are also a provider of process engineering and water solutions. They create many products including process aids, functional additives, and monitoring and control systems. They shared the history of Solenis and company values as well as the details on their internship program including the mentorship opportunities and the day-to-day experience. As the semester comes to a close, we are excited to share our last faculty spotlight of the semester, Dr. Ryan Lively! Check out his interview below: Q: Why did you pursue chemical engineering when you were in college? A: I picked chemical engineering when I was a senior in high school. I did not really know what it was, but it seemed like it was an interesting combination of chemistry, math, and physics, which were all topics I enjoyed in high school. Once I encountered the ChBE material, I really fell in love with it, as our discipline has the potential to really have a global impact on things like CO2, water, energy, etc. Q: What is your favorite chemical engineering class to teach? A: 2100 and Thermo 2 (RIP). Q: What is your top piece of advice for students? A: My suggestion is to treat your coursework like a "day job", if possible in your specific situation - if you work on your course work, projects, etc. from 9a-5p M-F you will still have time for sleep, social life, etc. In other words, it is possible to pick all 3 on the ChBE triangle of "good grades, sleep, social life"! Q: What kind of research do you do? A: We work on making separation processes more efficient, and on developing new processes that are important for a sustainable future: CO2 capture, water purification, sustainable aviation fuels, etc. Q: What is a hobby you like to engage in during your free time? A: If I get free time I enjoy playing video games - you can currently find me on Rocket League and Helldivers 2! #georgiatech #aiche #facultyspotlight #chemicalengineering

FM global is a property insurance company, that goes out to site and evaluate risks, and make recommendations to prevent the risks. They kindly explained the long, amazing history of FM global and how chemical engineers play a big role in the company! FM global is known to serve many big companies, including Disney, Boeing, and more! Additionally, students today learned about FM global’s amazing company culture. FM global is focused on the worker’s work life balance, and understand how important they are. FM global is focused on making the work places and world a safer place by preventing the risks! Last weekend, our chapter took part in the K-12 STEM day event. Thank you everyone who attended and made this event possible! Our members actively got engaged with the K-12 students who are interested in science with several fun experiments. It was an amazing experience with such engaged, curious audience!
