Know your voter rights as Election Day approaches! If you or someone you know is eligible to vote and experiencing homelessness in Minnesota, you can register on Election Day using the location of where you sleep as your address. You'll just need to go to the polling place with someone who can confirm where you are sleeping — this is considered your voting residence. If you are sleeping at a shelter or at a friend's house, you'll include that address on your registration form. If you sleep outside, you'll write a description of its location on your voter registration application. More on who needs to accompany you and what kind of info you'll need to provide is included here: https://bit.ly/4eCrNAt Remember: Your vote matters!

Mental health first aid came from the idea that in addition to learning how to take care of someone during a physical health emergency, people should also be taught how to care for someone during an emotional or mental emergency. And it's as easy as learning a simple acronym: ALGEE — assess, listen, give, encourage, and encourage. (Yes, encourage is included twice!) Visit the Guild blog to learn more and add this new tool to your first aid kit: https://bit.ly/3Y9Ez3I

At Guild, every day feels like #WorldMentalHealthDay. We know all too well how debilitating and challenging it can be to navigate life with mental illness. It's estimated that mental illnesses cut an average of 10 years off of life expectancy around the world ... and that it takes a person approximately 11 years after they first experience symptoms to get treatment. If it feels like that math isn't "mathing," it's because there's much more work to be done to de-stigmatize mental illness and encourage people to get the help they need to start their road to recovery. If you're experiencing a mental health crisis, you can call Guild South - Maureen’s House to be screened for residential crisis services at (612) 267-5242. You can also reach out to Guild's Crisis and Recovery Center at (651) 347-9889. More information and resources also available here: https://bit.ly/4cBBrTe

Our Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program employs a talented and dedicated team of clinical staff who give our clients the treatment, coping skills, and resources they need on their journey to self-sufficiency. But there’s one staff position that’s especially unique. Our peer support specialists share a lived experience with mental illness with our clients, and they use their own stories of recovery to help inspire our clients and give them hope that recovery is possible.
