Just like all of us, teenagers can experience a range of mental illnesses, including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. But the way these illnesses show up in teens doesn’t always look how it does in adults. Their experiences can also be exacerbated by the unique pressures and challenges that come with being a young person out in the world. Our big Community Support Program (CSP) art show and open house is tomorrow! ️📣 Join us at the CSP Member Center from 3-6PM on Thursday, September 12th to celebrate the creativity of our members. We'll also be showcasing some of the programming that Guild provides to the community, and tours will be offered for anyone who wants to check out the building renovations. We loved seeing Shakuri, one of our overnight team members at our Crisis and Recovery Center in Scott County, featured on KSTP! She's one of the hardest working and dedicated people here at Guild and a true pleasure to work with. We're lucky to have her! According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), every year 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experience mental illness, with 1 in 20 experiencing serious mental illness. As Suicide Prevention Month kicks off, a reminder that while suicide and mental illness can be difficult subjects to talk about, you're not alone ... and there are resources out there to help you through whatever challenges you're dealing with: If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or ideations, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or 1-800-273-8255. We believe that partnership has the power to change the lives of people living with mental illness and experiencing chronic homelessness, and one program of ours that exemplifies this collaborative spirit is Housing with Supports for Adults with Serious Mental Illness (HSASMI). It's a grant that enables us to provide integrated support through our Delancey Apartments — a beacon of hope and stability for those transitioning from homelessness to secure housing. Thanks again to everyone who came out for this year’s Bash for Mental Health! Hundreds of attendees converged on CHS Field last month for a summer evening of retro arcade games, live performances, endless entertainment, and tasty food and drink. Most importantly, you helped raise more than $115,000 to support our programs!
