  • On this #FeelGoodFriday, we're proud to spotlight Briana Brown, Laboratory, as our latest #GWProud recipient. Below are a few sentiments that leadership shared about Brian and her commitment to providing compassionate and exceptional care. "Briana Brown really saved two different patients on the same day, truly amazing work! Briana escalates concerns to the appropriate leadership, including escalating changes in patient behavior to nursing staff, and always has the patient's wellbeing at heart. Briana also stops the line when things don't seem right, such as handling a difficult situation where an outside group was asking to pick up specimens without approval. Briana keeps her cool and professional manner in all situations." Job well done Briana, we're so proud you're a part of our team!

  • On World Mental Health Day, let's take a moment to remind ourselves that we are never alone in our struggles. Positive affirmations can be powerful tools in nurturing our mental well-being. Remember: you are strong, you are valued, and you matter. In the U.S., more than one in five adults live with a mental illness—so if you're facing challenges, know that you're not alone. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

  • In our continued efforts to bring the most advanced care to the local community, we are proud to announce the recent addition of MRI-guided focused ultrasound to our Intraoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (iMRI) System. The iMRI is specifically designed to enable magnetic resonance imaging during neurosurgical procedures for brain tumors, epilepsy and other neurological conditions. The iMRI uses a magnetic field to create highly detailed images, allowing doctors to see how the brain is responding and refine the treatment in real-time. Not only is this technology designed to enable greater precision, but it also reduces the need for many post-procedure MRIs and no longer requires patients to be moved for imaging during procedures. “We are pleased to continue to invest in medical innovations – in this case, to support advanced neurosurgical procedures,” said Kimberly Russo, MBA, MS, Chief Executive Officer of The George Washington University Hospital and Group Vice President of the Washington, D.C. Region. “GW Hospital has achieved many first-in-market innovations over the past several decades. MRI-Guided Focused Ultrasound has been recently added, making GW Hospital currently the only adult-care hospital in the Metro DC/Northern VA region to have an iMRI with focused ultrasound.”
