Updates

  • Our Director of Construction Dave Burja marks nine years working with Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna! (He is pictured overseeing a panel build where volunteers are building the walls of a house in the parking lot of their place of business.) If YOUR company, place of worship, organization, etc. is looking for a great team building event, contact us and we'll bring the construction site to you! Ask about our sponsored Hammers Up Day and how your team can build the walls to a Habitat home. We supply the building materials, tools, safety equipment and professional supervision. Contact our Director of Development Ola Boswell at oboswell@habitatsusq.org for details.

  • And the winners are.... Actually, ALL the Women Build teams were winners in our book (see complete teams' list below), but we wanted to make special recognitions for those who won the group and individual awards for highest fundraising for this campaign. Please note that this year's Women Build fundraising total of more than $75,000 was done by peer-to-peer fundraising ALONE -- meaning, donations were raised strictly by individuals! Astounding! Congrats to the amazing Team Janney MACWIN for once again (for the fourth year!) winning the "Tacky Hammer" team award! Their team raised a record-breaking $13,660! (An honorable mention goes to Team Racquets to Wrenches, a first-year team, that raised $8,691 -- the second highest total EVER in our Women Build campaigns. Way to go!) Congrats to the phenomenal Damarys Ayala from Team Stellar Home Group for winning the "She Nailed It" individual award by raising $3,940! This is the first time Damarys has participated in our Women Build campaign, and she raised the most money by an individual ever! There's still more fundraising and build work to do before this house is completed, but our AWESOME teams gave us a great head start and we thank them immensely! Remember, this was an empty lot before 14 days of Women Build teams worked together to turn the grassy area into a house! Check out the pictures in our Facebook photo album at @habitatsusq to see the house build progression from the start to 14-different-days-of-building later! Please reach out to Michele Louderback -- the organizer of Women Build 2024 -- at mlouderback@habitatsusq.org if you are interested in contributing towards this Liberty Street, Aberdeen, house either financially or by volunteering. We still need to raise money to close the funding gap and help pay for the remainder of the construction costs for this house. We are also in need of lots of volunteers to sign up at this build site in the July and August months. We currently have many open spots on our volunteer calendar. Help keep us moving forward, and help keep this Women Build momentum going! We can't wait to see Eureka and her children into this home! LIST OF THE WOMEN BUILD 2024 PARTICIPANTS: Allan Myers, Altus Group, Compass Home Group, Cummings & Co. Realtors, Emmett Fitness, Harford LeadHERship Academy Class of '23, Image 360 --Harford, Janney MACWIN, Mountain Christian Church, Racquets to Wrenches, Stellar Home Group MD, Tar Heel Construction Group, Trinity Lutheran Church, and, Word of Faith Church. Thank you to all of our awesome Women Build teams for helping us build homes, communities and hope!!
