What a way to close out our LAC Climate residency last week in Mexico City 🎤 Our visionary founders are leading the charge in climate technology, tackling solutions ranging from energy financing to textile dyeing and beyond. As our fellows returned to their home countries across the region, we’re confident they’ll continue to change lives with their essential climate work. 🌱 Thank you to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for their incredible support of this fellowship program. Halcyon 2024 Africa Climate venture Earthbond raised $200,000 in pre-seed funding from Madica, an Africa-focused early-stage investment program for mission-driven founders. ➡️ This investment will help Earthbond onboard more small and medium businesses, as over 1,800 have joined their waitlist in support of their mission to provide clean, affordable, and reliable solar adoption solutions. 🌍 We’re thrilled to celebrate this news in-person with Chidalu Onyenso and Yedi A. in a few short weeks in Nairobi, where their cohort will reunite for their second residency week.

Last week, Halcyon was thrilled to be part of major convenings in the DC area adjacent to The World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings: 🌐 GCIC Event: The Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) held a panel discussion, “Accelerating Growth for Greater Climate Impact – The Imperative of Scalable Innovation,” at Halcyon, featuring Daniel J. Barker. We were eager to contribute our insights on supporting climate entrepreneurship and to learn from expert panelists Ruka Sanusi, Stacy A. Swann, and Michael Ehst. 🏦 DC Fintech Week: We co-hosted a DC Fintech Week reception with Avenue Z, a group aligned with our mission to support disruptors who are leveraging technology to drive meaningful change. We were grateful that our EquityTech cohort could connect with attendees, especially for our founders working to close equity gaps in the FinTech space. 🚀 DCSTW: Halcyon’s Erna Redzepagic co-led the Startups4Good track at DC Startup & Tech Week (Formerly DC Startup Week), while Dan Barker and many Halcyon alums participated as panelists and speakers. It was an inspiring evening with a group united around making our DC ecosystem even more successful. At Halcyon, we’re proud to be conveners and thought leaders, bringing together key figures for powerful conversations around innovation and impact, all while building valuable networks for our founders.

We’re excited about the fruitful connections and potential collaborations between our EquityTech fellows and the investors and partners in VC and DC’s rich network who attended this special gathering.
