About us
Hamilton Community Schools is a rural district located in West Michigan south of Holland and east of Saugatuck. Our well-maintained district consists of four elementary buildings (Bentheim, Blue Star, Hamilton Elementary, and Sandyview) along with one middle school, one high school, and Hamilton FLEX (Virtual, Blended, and Shared Time options). Hamilton prides itself on being a big district (135 square miles) with a small-town feel. Hamilton Community Schools is one of 18 member public school districts within the Ottawa Intermediate School District (OAISD). Our district consists of 400 employees and over 2,500 full-time students and 1,100 non-public students in a variety of programs and formats. Hamilton Community Schools is known throughout the state as a premier district balancing a small-town atmosphere with educational innovation to meet the needs of each learner. The focus on K-12 academics, work-based learning, athletics, and the arts make Hamilton a destination district. WE are HAWKEYES!

On Thursday, the Hamilton Middle School 8th grade students presented on their STREAM projects! Their driving question is "How can we maintain natural resources at Hamilton Community Schools while ensuring they are functioning as a usable school space?" The students put in a lot of effort over the past several days to prepare for their presentations in front of a panel of local professionals. It was impressive to see the creative ideas they came up with! 🖤💛 #GreatThingsHappenHere

A few minor but important improvements to tell you about around Hamilton High School over the past few weeks: - Lighting has been added so that the American Flag, State of Michigan flag, and Hawkeye flag are all properly illuminated at night at Hamilton High School. - Lights have been installed along the athletic walkway from Hamilton High School to the football stadium and tennis courts for the safety of those walking to and from evening activities, all lights are on a motion sensor. - The Hamilton High School parking lot is now motion sensor activated!

We LOVE our paraprofessionals all across our district! This message was recently relayed to Dr. Lusk from a parent at Blue Star Elementary. Venus Green and the Blue Star Elementary staff do such a great job each and every day. 🖤💛 #HawkeyeFamily

Pucker up, Mr. Randall! 💋🐮 The Bentheim Elementary principal held true to his word on Friday afternoon, kissing a cow in front of the entire school! It was all part of a reward for the students for raising over $18,000 during their annual Hawk Walk fundraiser! #GreatThingsHappenHere

Elementary schools in our district are finding 'jobs' for students through our Meaningful Work initiative to help students take ownership and demonstrate leadership skills! 🖤💛 Today, Blue Star Elementary hosted its first-ever 'Job Fair' for students who were able to visit tables, hear about different roles like cleaning up after breakfast or lunch, helping with playground duty, assisting with the school news, taking care of plants in the garden, and much more. The students have to fill out applications for jobs they're interested in and list their skills before a short interview! The students LOVED this concept and are so excited for their roles! 😎 #GreatThingsHappenHere | #PreparedForLife

Hopefully you weren't too concerned passing by Bentheim Elementary today! Principal Jared Randall is a man of his word and fulfilled the first of his two promises after the students raised nearly $18,000 for their annual Hawk Walk fundraiser by working on the roof all day! 🖤💛 Here's a video of his day: https://lnkd.in/gM5_J-dP The second promise is the talk of the school... stay tuned on Friday afternoon! 🐮 Way to be a great sport, Mr. Randall. #GreatThingsHappenHere
