He is a skilled litigator who uses his strong advocacy skills to help his clients achieve satisfactory settlements and resolutions. Prior to joining HM&B, William litigated in state and federal courts with a maritime law firm in Miami, defending boat owners, marinas, cruise lines and other players in the maritime industry against personal injury, property damage and breach of contract claims. William graduated from the George Washington University in Washington DC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Subsequently, he obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, where he immersed himself in the school’s extensive maritime law program, obtaining a certificate in maritime law. She is known for providing thorough, strategic defenses by combining her legal knowledge and commitment to client service. Before joining HM&B as an associate, Aki clerked for the firm while attending law school. Prior to her time at the firm, Aki was employed at a non-profit civic engagement organization. Aki completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. We welcome Ivy Holt as a partner in the firm’s Orlando office. Ivy concentrates her practice in the areas of civil litigation and general liability, defending lawsuits involving personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, and products liability. Ivy is a skilled litigator who has used her talents to unravel the most complex claims. Before coming to #HMBLaw, Ivy represented major insurers, municipalities, governmental entities, restaurants, and other businesses and insureds throughout Florida. Ivy graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies and a minor in Criminal Justice. She earned her Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law. Ivy has volunteered and served as a Guardian Ad Litem advocating to protect the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in dependency court proceedings. #HMBLaw’s Hispanic Heritage Month potluck was a delicious way to indulge in the culinary traditions of our diverse Hispanic team members. The mouthwatering dishes included lechon asado (Cuban roast pork), arroz con salchichas (yellow rice), Colombian chorizos (sausage), elote (Mexican street corn) and coquito Puertorriqueño (Puerto Rican egg nog). Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international health campaign held every October. Sadly, people of every country, race, ethnic group and income level are affected by breast cancer. In the U.S. today, a woman has a 1 in 8 chance of developing this disease in her lifetime. Males are also affected, with U.S. men accounting for 1 out of every 100 breast cancer diagnoses. Most of us have at least one family member or friend who have been afflicted. But there is hope and a high survival rate if caught early. Let us encourage our loved ones to get tested and let us support research to wipe out this scourge. #BreastCancerAwareness #HMBLaw
