Hello, new! Hanbury is excited to unveil a reimagined visual identity that embodies our journey and ethos. Our collaboration with Base Design has been a reflective exercise, distilling the essence of what makes Hanbury unique—where thoughtful, honest design meets the places we care about. Our refreshed visual identity reflects our evolution—simple yet robust. Conceptualized as a living gallery of our projects, our process, and our people, it’s a celebration of where we’ve come from and a bold step into the future we are shaping. Through acting with empathy, planning adaptably, and designing holistically we deliver ideas with stretch. Welcome to the new Hanbury.

Atlantic Park, the highly anticipated mixed-use development reshaping the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, has reached a significant construction milestone with the "bottoming out" of its centerpiece surf lagoon. Unlike traditional “topping out” ceremonies, where the tallest structural element is placed, this event marked the completion of the lagoon’s foundational structure. Hanbury joined Venture Realty Group, W. M. Jordan Company, design partners, and community members to celebrate this exciting moment in the project’s development. As we approach a new academic year, we invite you to learn more about the Karsh Institute of Democracy (Karsh IOD) at the University of Virginia (UVA), the first Design for Freedom University Pilot Project! The new building will be home to the University of Virginia’s Karsh Institute of Democracy, envisioned as a vibrant, continually active place. It will also be the new facilities for UVA’s Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, ensuring cross-pollination of ideas and initiatives. The eastern façade of the structure features a subtle curve that both signals the main entrance and acts as a beacon to the rest of the site. The building is anchored by large, carved cornerstones that visually ground the building and share in the curve of the façade. Set for completion in 2026, the project team includes Working Group Member Höweler+Yoon Architecture, LLP, Hanbury, and Hourigan. Deep dive into this and other new and completed Design for Freedom Pilot Projects, each a tangible representation of the Design for Freedom Principles and display of a more humane built environment: https://lnkd.in/e59ipkQ8
