During his time at Immersion, Manuel spearheaded emerging projects that advanced tactile technology and user experience, setting new benchmarks in the haptics industry. One more Haptics Club episode is here! Femke van Beek, an Assistant Professor at Control Systems Technology, at Eindhoven University of Technology. Femke's work is pioneering in the field of tactile feedback and soft robotic technologies, which have vast applications in medical devices and assistive technologies. Her current project is part of the 4TU Soft Robots Program, in which soft robots are developed by taking inspiration from nature, like octopus arms and elephant trunks. Exciting? We wanted to share some take aways from the Haptics Club episode with Hong Z. Tan, Lead haptics scientist at Google: 1. Manipulating frequencies and durations gives people imagery in a specific context, and can create signals that mimic natural phenomenon 2. Haptics is a multidisciplinary field, doing justice to haptics includes several areas such as software, hardware, robotics, computer graphics, etc 3. We are still in the discovery phase!
