This week, our thoughts are with our Harbor team members, clients and partners based in Florida who have been hunkered down over the last few days. We have been relieved to hear back from those who have weathered the storm. Please reach out if you need additional support over the coming days and weeks. As we look ahead to next week, our Corporate Legal Technology team is looking forward to attending the EDI Leadership Summit. Team members from Harbor who will be attending include Ross Dubinsky, Jim Mitchell, and Rachel Zahorsky. Ross Dubinsky will be moderating a panel on Friday, October 18: “The Past is the Present: Mining Prior Data to Inform Decisions”. The panel is on data-driven decision making to drive litigation processes – from staffing models and firm selection, to budgeting and case strategies. In advance of next week’s summit, Ross would like to get a pulse on how your corporate law department is currently using metrics to drive decisions. Please take the quick poll (which will take less than a minute) here: https://bit.ly/3U1uuUk #legaloperations #litigation #ediscovery

Definitely one of the best parts of Harbor LINKS, is that it is a fundraiser! Thank you to Harbor leadership and the community for all the support of these efforts.

As AALL continues to advocate for the next generation of law librarians, we would like to thank Harbor and attendees of the 2024 LINKS virtual forum for their generous $12,000 donation to the AALL George A. Integration of your strategic applications in the Cloud shouldn’t be an afterthought. As your firm prepares to migrate systems to the cloud, you can plan ahead to ensure that the connection across systems will be robust – and avoid disruption and data loss when the inevitable downtime happens across one or more applications. In “Strategic Links on Your Cloud Journey: Systems”, Christopher Young and Augustine C. of Harbor will discuss best practices in planning a Cloud-ready integration architecture for your law firm. Key topics will include: • The impact of “staged” cloud migrations on integration • Advantages of building a Cloud-ready infrastructure before it becomes critical • Considerations in selecting the best integration technology for your firm Regardless of where your firm is in its cloud journey, thinking about "processes" rather than "systems" could be the key to delivering an integration architecture that is flexible, scalable, and performant over time. Register to join the webinar – the second in our series on cloud migration strategy for law firms – on Wednesday, October 9: https://bit.ly/3XQmOoM #LegalTech #LegalTechnology #CloudMigration

Mulching trees and cleaning up litter in Chicago...packing fruit and vegetable boxes in New York...working at food banks in Washington, DC, Seattle, and London...sorting children's clothes donations in Philadelphia...wrapping diapers in Nashville, Tennessee....pitching in with a community garden in Moncton, New Brunswick. These were just a few of the volunteer activities the Harbor team took part in during our recent Day of Service. Many thanks to everyone who participated in giving back to our local communities. #HarborCares #InclusiveCommunity #ResilientConnections

Passing this along to my network, as just about every law department leader I talk to is curious about how to prioritize legal-specific GenAI use cases, and how best to think about different categories of GenAI that are applicable to the legal industry. An awesome brief from my colleagues Justin Hectus, Sean Monahan, and Bobbi Basile. As you navigate the choppy waters of how to apply GenAI, let Harbor be your guide!
