Jacob D. Herr is celebrating his one year work anniversary this month! We caught up with him to ask a few questions about himself and his role as an Employee Benefits Account Executive at Harding-Yost Insurance. Here’s what we found out: I have lived in Lancaster, PA my entire life and obtained my Bachelor’s from York College of PA– finding value in being local, and staying local. I have been working with HYI for one year and have brought multiple new business opportunities across the finish line for our team. I've also been phased into working with existing clients to enhance our agency’s value to them. Successfully building off of everything I have learned in my 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry has helped me grow the relationships with these current clients. I enjoy being involved with professional and non-profit organizations. A few I’m involved with are ABC Keystone - Membership Committee, Northern Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, Bell Socialization Services. What do you enjoy about your job? I enjoy the flexibility of being able to grow relationships my way, and the internal support I receive from the team to ensure clients are retained and satisfied. Also, Joe Lapi is a fantastic leader and really puts his employees first which is noticed in the work the team does day in and day out. In the past year of working at HYI, is there anything you have learned or would like to share? I have learned that an independently owned agency has a distinct and huge advantage over national and private-equity owned agencies in terms of nimbleness, putting the client first, transparency, and leadership’s goals. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I am a huge fan of the Phillies and Eagles, golfing, cooking, and fishing. Years of previous experience working in restaurants has built my culinary passion and interest for cooking and innovation in the kitchen, as well as bringing that experience to the one eating the food. Ryan graduated from Elizabethtown College where he majored in finance and minored in marketing and also played on the baseball team. In the summer of 2023, he was an intern in our commercial department and will now be a Commercial Support Specialist, helping to manage commercial claims and provide other support throughout the department. Ryan lives in Columbia, PA. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, is a huge sports fan (Phillies, Eagles, Georgia Bulldogs football), and enjoys golfing, fishing, and staying active.
