It was an absolute honor and joy to help bring this video to life for an organization that is truly changing the world! Grab ya a box of tissues, and enjoy.
[VIDEO] Our vision is a world where no one is needlessly blind. Since 1995, we’ve been known as the Himalayan Cataract Project. And today, our new name is Cure Blindness Project. We enable underserved communities around the world, delivering high-quality, cost-effective eye care wherever they are. What began in the mountains of Nepal has grown today to millions of surgeries, screenings and treatments performed in over 25 countries–and we won’t stop until everyone in the world with avoidable blindness can see. Watch the story unfold in this 2 minute video and let us know what you think in the comments!

Have you ever wondered how our documentary became a documentary at all? Here is part of that story!
Today I am remembering the hardest, most challenging production of my nearly 20 year career; Like Harvey Like Son. For our first documentary, currently available on Amazon Prime, we partnered with our friends at ROAD iD to film UltraRunner Harvey Lewis as he tried to break the record for completing the Appalachian Trail. But the truth is, we went out there without a specific plan. Maybe it's a quick 3-5 minute video about running? Maybe it's going to be some cool broll for another project entirely? We didn't really know. On the first day of his run which started at around 5:00am, Harvey ran through a named tropical storm. Battling the sheets of rain was the least challenging part of our day as I had to quickly gain the trust of these two men if this endeavor would become anything at all. "Junior" was a bit stand offish, concerned for his son and worried about a camera crew following him around the next 2 months. But through gentleness, humor, and honestly just being the conversationalist that I am, I quickly made them both feel at ease with our cameras, our presence, and all my questions. I learned a lot of them through the questions I asked Junior that first day and started to think this could be something more. At the end of the day Junior met up with Harvey to set up camp and dinner. When Harvey arrived his dad gave him a plate of food. He had ran 62 miles that day (yes...62 miles) but rather than talking about that, they were talking about their lives and family, as if this was just a normal day to them. That's when I thought that there was definitely more to this story. I quickly set up a new shot, pulled Co-Producer Mike Trimpe over to see my shot and he said, "Wow! That looks awesome." I said, "This is it what this should be about. It's about them two." From there we had our heading and ultimately our movie poster. The below image is the exact shot and moment that I realized what this could be; a father and son connecting on America's most historic trail. Now, 13 film festivals and 3 Best Feature awards later, it's become one of my most rewarding pieces to date.

Honored. Humbled. Exactatic. That about sums up our feelings of winning one silver, two golds, and Best of Show at the Cincinnati Addys this weekend for our campaign “Sharing the Sounds” for our friends at LifeCenter Organ Donor Network. Honored not just that our hardwork and creative passion was recognized, but also that the important message within this campaign has and will continue to reach people.
