Hart Internship Program Spotlight: Year-round, Hart welcomes interns to our team with open arms. Through this partnership, interns are immersed in our ongoing projects with an onsite presence, in-house fabrication observation and office experience. They gain valuable industry insight, while sharing with Hart their enthusiasm, unique perspectives and emerging educational practices. We are grateful to have Owen Lotito and Ryan Hunnewell (pictured here) on board this summer with us as mechanical contacting interns. Owen currently attends the University of Connecticut and is a rising senior studying Mechanical Engineering. Ryan is about to enter his junior year at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, majoring in Facilities Engineering. As Mechanical Interns, Owen and Ryan began with an introduction to the many types of piping systems and components we purchase and install. There is a wide range of systems Hart installs that use carbon steel, copper, stainless steel, Teflon-lined pipe, and many more. They could be looking at a system for steam service, chilled or hot water, caustic/acidic chemicals, fuel gas and oils, drug manufacturing lines, lab gases, water treatment, and so on. Owen and Ryan saw many of these pieces physically welded, flanged, brazed, or otherwise put together in our shop. While learning what systems are made of, they were introduced to diagrams and drawings of the systems to learn how they are built. This was accompanied by visits to facilities to see the projects we are currently working on and learn the construction process hands-on. Once armed with the basic knowledge of what’s being built, Owen and Ryan learned and performed the steps of estimating costs (by doing material take-off), purchasing (by getting quotes and issuing purchase orders), coordinating and tracking deliveries for fabrication and overall project progress. Over their tenure here, they have gained a vast understanding of the many types of systems built in process mechanical construction and performed some of the foundational construction management skills. For both Owen and Ryan the highlight of their time here has been being out in the field visiting our diverse job sites across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Owen shares, “It is interesting to see a project come together from both behind a computer screen and in person. I’ve also had the opportunity to become familiar with the standard tasks of a Project Engineer and gain experience with applications such as Bluebeam and Procore, which are skills I will carry with me for the rest of my professional career”. We thank Owen and Ryan for their hard work and dedication this summer and wish them the best as they continue on their educational journeys. Interested candidates can submit their resumes and cover letter through our careers webpage as open internship positions are posted and by keeping an eye out for Hart on your internal school internship opportunity portals and at your in person job fairs!

Recently the Hart Team, past, present and future gathered together at Kempenaar’s Clambake (Middletown, RI) to celebrate 40 yrs under Rampone family ownership. Presidents David and Paul Rampone hosted the event not only to commemorate this proud moment but to show their appreciation for all the people who made such an achievement possible. Amongst the day’s festivities David shared, “It’s all thanks to the people under this roof. Everyone here is special. We have the best people in our industry bar none. I love you all and appreciate what you all do every day and if you’re not still working, thank you for all you did when you did, because those were the toughest days… Not enough money, not enough resources, but you all got it done, and I’ll never forget that and I‘m sure Paul won’t either”. It was a great day, young and old all coming together as a family!  #hartcompanies #hartfamily #40thanniversary

Congratulations to Resilience on their new Technical Development Center in Allston, MA. Hart is beyond grateful for our more than three decades of presence on campus.   In the earlier years Hart was working with Genzyme and then Sanofi contributing to the manufacturing of life saving drug therapies. Today Hart is working to assist Resilience with their innovative manufacturing goals, much of which is featured in the below video.   In 1992 Hart became one of the three Mechanical Contractors that built the Process Gas piping systems used for the Genzyme facility. Hart’s role grew into the primary Facilities support and Capital project mechanical contractor, performing Plant Utilities upgrades and Production manufacturing suite modifications for over 30 years. Hart looks forward to supporting Resilience in their continued growth and success. #hartcompanies #hartengineering #hartdesigngroup #hartpassivation
