👉 Check out this quick Q&A with ERC Fellow Caroline Sarpy! Sarpy is a second-year Epidemiology SM2 student concentrating in environmental and occupational epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research interests include indoor environmental pollutants and their impacts on health, as well as strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation. 1) Tell us about the Harvard Chan Education and Research Center for Occupational Health (ERC). How did you become involved as a trainee? "The ERC program is funded by NIOSH in an effort to train more students in occupational epidemiology – there's not enough of us out there! Trainees follow a curriculum set by the ERC Director, Dr. David Christiani. I became involved when Dr. Lorelei Mucci nominated me based on my interests." 2) What will you be working on? What excites you the most about your work? "As a trainee, I will be taking courses including Responsible Conduct of Research and Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology. I also will be presenting my thesis findings on risk factors for indoor environmental exposures to the ERC members, which is very exciting." 3) What is a fun fact about yourself that others may not know? "A fun fact about me is that I did Irish dance in high school! If ever you want to learn, I’d love to dance together!" Interested in learning more about the center or Caroline Sarpy's work?
