The Filipino American Historical Society chose to recognize the first Filipino landing in Morro Bay, California. It’s also the birth month of labor leader Larry Itliong. Lured to the US as farmworkers, nurses, and teachers, #FilipinoAmericanHistoryMonth honors the rich history, contributions, and legacy of Filipino Americans. Today we track their struggles, resistance, solidarity, and resilience through the foods they brought with them. #asianamericans #ourhistorymatters #asianhistorymatters #knowthyhistory #collectiveliberation

As hype builds toward November 5th, we are flooded by coverage centered around the national Presidential race. But that’s just one of the dozens of choices you’ll be making on your ballot. Voting isn’t just about the candidates you support – it's about showing that your community is active and engaged. In the face of election fatigue, two things hold true: we’ll have to fight for justice, and we’ll have each other. So let’s show up. #election2024 #showup #community #solidarity #collectiveliberation

With all that’s going on in our world, more of us are asking “What can I do to make a difference?” Social media is flooded with expectations of how we should respond. Talk. Think. Act. But social change is a lifelong journey that begins where you are. The From The Ground Up experience is live now, exploring this idea and more. Explore your own journey today at hateisavirus.org. #fromthegroundup #gardenofchange #yourjourney #collectiveliberation #imperfectactivism

It’s been a full year and Palestine is still not free. It’s been a full year since the Netanyahu government has conducted a g*n*c*dal campaign against Palestine’s civilian population. It’s been a full year and at least 40,000 have been k*ll*d. A July 2024 Lancet study suggests a “conservative” 186,000+ is the more accurate number. And the American government continues to arm and fund this brutal campaign. We reflect on the impact, and what we can do #freepalestine #gaza #collectiveliberation #solidarity

#Inktober began as a challenge to artists to draw daily throughout October. Asian Americans have long used visual storytelling to explore heritage, culture, identity, and worlds free of personal baggage and historical scars. In honor of this legacy, we’ll be posting our own Inktober prompts to our IG stories (@hateisavirus). Tag us in your posts and stories and DM us your art. And let’s draw towards our **collective** liberation together. #AsianAmericans #AsianArt #CollectiveLiberation

Feeling burned out by activism? You’re not alone. Our socials flood us with pictures of what “good activism” **should** look like. From marches to protests, rallies, and fearless activists, we’re told we need to give everything in the fight for a more just world. But what if we’ve already given all that we have? With all the pressures to act around us, it can feel like we can never give enough. It doesn't have to be this way.
