Randy S. presenting today at the Opportunity Crudes Conference on a new Carbon Intensity GHG model within #HCOMET (Haverly's Crude Oil Evaluation Tool), enhancing refinery planning with detailed #LifeCycleAnalysis (LCA) capabilities. This includes accurate refinery product #carbonintensity allocations for near-term case studies or strategic energy transition-based opportunity #crudeoptimization. Furthermore, the presentation covers the state of some current industry measures along with some of their existing shortfalls, and bridges into how the new Haverly development will enable quicker, more robust management modeling of Scope 1,2,3 Carbon Intensities for varying #CrudePathways.

Find us this upcoming week at the Opportunity Crudes Conference, where we will be hosting a Booth, and Randy S. will be presenting on #CarbonIntensity Modelling. The diversity and market access of #crudeoil movements continue to grow across the globe. Whether it's the complexity of #CanadianHeavy Blends via the newly operating #TransMountainpipeline now competing with South American/Middle Eastern heavies, expanding US Light Domestic Sweet movements into Europe competing with Brent/African sweets, or shifting Middle East/Russian crude pathways, #Refineries continue to assess economic crude change opportunities through advanced planning tools such as GRTMPS. In addition, the industry must now also assess the #CarbonIntensity (CI) impacts of these crude pathway changes. This presentation introduces a new Carbon Intensity #GHGmodel within #HCOMET, enhancing #refineryplanning with detailed #LifeCycleAnalysis (LCA) capabilities. This includes accurate refinery product carbon Intensity allocations for near-term case studies or strategic energy transition-based opportunity crude optimization. Furthermore, the presentation covers the state of some current industry measures along with some of their existing shortfalls, and bridges into how the new Haverly development will enable quicker, more robust management modeling of Scope 1,2,3 Carbon Intensities for varying Crude Pathways. In his capacity as President of the Canadian Crude Quality Technical Association (CCQTA) and as a board member of the U.S. Crude Oil Quality Association (COQA), Randy has worked to align crude quality principles on a global scale. Currently, he collaborates with Haverly Systems on Crude Oil LCA modeling and serves as President of QC2 Solutions, where he provides consulting services throughout the hydrocarbon value chain. Register for this conference (virtual or in person), to see this presentation, and come find us at our booth! https://lnkd.in/dthq2RnX

The Crude Oil Quality Association (COQA), has long been working to help push for better specifications for West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the US crude futures benchmark delivered at Cushing, especially as Cushing has increasingly become the destination for other crude streams including heavy Canadian grades. This has raised some concerns that differing qualities of crude were being blended into WTI to the detriment of refiners. At the COQA Fall Meeting last week in Galveston, TX, Pat Swafford discussed these efforts and potential challenges regarding crude quality standards at the Gulf coast terminals that predominantly export Midland-grade WTI. Read the Press Release from Argus Media regarding Pat's presentation at the COQA meeting for more in-depth analysis! Thanks to COQA for the meeting and to Argus Media for the article. https://lnkd.in/g5gFpZ_U
