The Hawaii Army National Guard’s (HIARNG) federal mission is to serve as the Senior Army National Guard command and control element in support of the JFHQ-State for Army units assigned to the State. Provides trained, equipped and ready forces capable of mobilizing in support of both Federal and State Missions. With the concurrence the State Governor, acts as needed as a Joint Task Force (JTF) Headquarters under Pacific Command (PACOM) control.

Each year on Dec. 7, we observe Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. On this day in 1941, the Imperial Japanese Naval Air Service conducted a surprise attack on the Hawaiian naval station at Pearl Harbor, killing more than 2,400 Americans, sinking or damaging 15 naval vessels, and downing hundreds of aircraft. The event resulted in the United States entering World War II. In reaction to the significant loss of life, President Franklin D. Roosevelt notably referred to Dec. 7 as "a date which will live in infamy."
