About us
The Hawai'i State Department of Education employs about 22,000 full-time employees (including teachers, librarians, counselors, educational officers, support staff and more). We seek talented, skilled, credentialed and enthusiastic employees who will help deliver on the promise of the Department's Strategic Plan. There are job opportunities on the main populated islands: Oahu, Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Lanai and Kauai. For teachers, the greatest demand occurs on the neighbor islands and in the more rural areas of Oahu, away from Honolulu.

Find art - at our public schools! For this school year, we are showcasing the amazing artwork by students and professionals alike that grace our schools, campuses and community. To kick off National Literacy Month in September, we are sharing “The Storyteller,” a formidable concrete giant with a friendly smile. According to artist Kay Mura, she “warmly welcomes children to listen to her stories about Kapālama; the school, its curriculum, the multi-ethnic make-up of its students, and what the area meant to ancient Hawaiians. Her larger-than-life size emphasizes the magical quality of the stories she tells.” Collection: SFCA Art in Public Places Collection Artist: Kay Mura Date: 2002 Type: Sculpture Material: Concrete #HawaiiPublicSchoolsProud #CapitolModern #HawaiiStateArtMuseum #ArtInPublicPlacesHawaii #HawaiiArtist #SupportLocalArtists
