Fine Arts Friday! Here's a spotlight on Castle High’s performing arts program as students ready their end-of-year shows. The students in the Stage Craft class displayed their artistry as they intently work on a pond scene for “On Butterfly Wings” by Lisa Matsumoto. Students also visited nearby elementary schools to talk about performing arts and to teach them stage craft. The paper flowers and leaves edging the stage are their colorful contribution. To purchase tickets for the April 11-13 performance of “On Dragonfly Wings” go to: castleperforms.com. The Creative Dance class is preparing for their spring show, “Dear Diary.” Dance students collaborate with the special education class to create choreography where everyone contributes ideas and movement. Each team dance tells a personal story for the audience to experience. Tickets will be on sale soon for their April performance on cur8.com.

History in the making as the inaugural girls flag football season kicks off. Good luck to all the teams representing Maui, Kauaʻi, Big Island, and Oʻahu Interscholastic Leagues. This is the first new sport for high school girls in over 20 years. Hawai‘i is the 12th state in the country to sanction girls flag football as a high school sport.
