Morgan State University Celebrates the Launch of Student Managed Investment Fund, Cultivating the Next Generation of Financial Leaders This week marked a major milestone for students at Morgan State University’s Graves School of Business and Management as they celebrated the official launch of the Student Managed Investment Fund. This hands-on investment learning initiative is a powerful educational platform, seeded with an initial funding of $120,000, enabling students to gain real-world experience in managing investments. The program not only gives students practical skills in finance but also prepares them for future careers as financial analysts, portfolio managers, and investment strategists. The launch ceremony was a vibrant event attended by representatives from prestigious financial organizations, including Aon, Campbell & Company, Goldman Sachs, and T. Rowe Price. Their presence underscored the significance of the initiative and Morgan State’s commitment to equipping its students with essential financial expertise and networking opportunities in the investment sector. The Student Managed Investment Fund is an excellent model for HBCUs and other educational institutions aiming to elevate experiential learning within their finance programs. By actively managing a real fund, students not only learn investment theory but also develop critical decision-making skills, experience market fluctuations firsthand, and understand risk management—all while under the mentorship of experienced industry professionals. The National HBCU Business Deans Roundtable applauds Morgan State University’s dedication to fostering practical financial education and commends its efforts to bridge the gap between classroom learning and career readiness. We look forward to witnessing the impact these students will have as future leaders in finance and business. Wishing much success to the students on their investment journey!
