We’re thrilled to welcome 15 bright and ambitious students who are about to embark on the final two years of their medical journey with us! After completing their first two years of med school at VCOM Auburn, these future physicians are now diving into their clinical rotations here at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital. This marks our 8th year of hosting VCOM Auburn students, and we’re excited to offer them valuable hands-on experience both in our hospital and local physician clinics. We were proud to be a part of the 90 amazing volunteers from local organizations who dedicated 540 hours to enhance nine schools in the Okaloosa County School District. From setting up classrooms and maintaining facilities to landscaping and organizing educational materials, volunteers worked tirelessly to create a welcoming environment for students. A huge thank you to all the volunteers from our facility, HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, Eglin Federal Credit Union, Florida Power & Light, and Hurlburt Field AFB who made this possible! Welcome Dr. Sean Meiner, MD, to our facility! Dr. Meiner is a board-certified neurosurgeon with a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to patient care. Dr. Meiner earned his BS in Biology from the University of Washington in 2000, followed by his MD from the University of Texas HSC at Houston in 2008. He completed both his internship and residency in Neurosurgery at the University of Texas HSC at Houston, finishing his residency in 2015. With his extensive training and compassionate approach, Dr. Meiner is dedicated to providing exceptional care and innovative treatments to his patients. We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Patrick C. McVey, MBA, BSN, RN, as our new Chief Operating Officer! Patrick joins us with a remarkable background in healthcare management, having most recently served as the Regional Vice President for HCA Healthcare's North Florida and South Atlantic divisions. His expertise includes overseeing patient logistics, behavioral health, centralized patient placement, transfer center operations, and emergency medical services transport.
