HDFFA believes everyone deserves good food. We are forever grateful to our Central Oregon farmers and ranchers who produce the good food we source locally. October 12 is National Farmers Day. Donations received this weekend Oct 12-13 will be designated to be used for our Agricultural Support work, for the benefit of farmers and ranchers. Join us in thanking farmers for producing good food to keep us healthy and nourished. HDFFA.org/donate. #everyonedeservesgoodfood #thankyoucentraloregonfarmers Photos by Amanda Photographic

Are you going to the Food Safety and Sustainability Summit on Tuesday, October 15 at Cascade Culinary Institute at Central Oregon Community College? We are! Please look for HDFFA’s Program Director Ann Pistacchi-Peck at our booth and learn about Grow & Give - our Food Rescue Program. During the event, kitchen managers and community members will learn about a variety of topics, including food insecurity statistics, the main risk factors leading to food-borne illness, best practices for donating surplus food, and reusables for restaurants. Summit participants will also get to snack on specially crafted hours d’oeuvres by CCI’s Farm to Table class and have the opportunity to tour the composting and emissions systems at Knott Landfill. The Food Safety and Sustainability Summit will be held on Tuesday, October 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Cascade Culinary Institute, 2555 Northwest Campus Village Way in Bend. Register for the summit https://lnkd.in/gF2n2764

How did your garden grow? If you have an abundance of fresh produce that you’d like to share, HDFFA will happily add your bounties to our Grow & Give collections at this season’s last Bend Farmers Market tomorrow (Wednesday, October 9). All produce collected is distributed to Central Oregonians experiencing food insecurity. Find our booth between 11 am - 3 pm. Thank you for believing, as we do, that everyone deserves good food!

It’s a new month and we have new digs! We moved! Please meet our new roommates: Agricultural Connections. In case you’re not familiar with Agricultural Connections, they are an online farmers market and delivery service dedicated to making it easy to support local farmers, ranchers, and food businesses year-round. Their goal is to connect chefs and eaters to the most local, seasonal, and sustainably grown foods possible. We remain separate organizations, but it was a natural fit to be neighbors and close collaborators since both our organizations are dedicated to supporting Central Oregon farms and ranches. If you’re going to be in the neighborhood, please say hello! Our new address is 20780 NE High Desert Lane, Suite 1, Bend, OR 97701.
