Trenton must stop short-changing nursing home residents and the staff who take care of them. Instead of piling on unfunded mandates, critical resources should be spent on hiring more staff and improving care. Otherwise, more than 9,000 current New Jersey nursing home residents risk losing their homes. Tell your state lawmakers: The state must invest now in the welfare of its aging senior population. It’s not a choice, it’s an obligation. #HCANJ #Lawmakers

About us
The Health Care Association of New Jersey (HCANJ) is an organization representing long term care providers who believe that the individuals served are entitled to a supportive environment in which professional and compassionate care is delivered. This belief compels HCANJ and its members to advocate for individuals who, because of social needs, disability, trauma, or illness, require services provided in a long term care setting, while also advocating for the long term care provider community. An integral part of HCANJ’s vision is to demonstrate leadership by identifying and communicating good practice models to the long term care field. HCANJ works to influence society and government to invest in the well-being of elderly and disabled individuals and to assure access to long term care. HCANJ is committed to developing necessary and reasonable public policies which balance economic and regulatory principles to support quality care and quality of life. HCANJ is dedicated to professionalism and ethical behavior among all who provide long term care, thus earning the confidence and trust of the public. HCANJ has met the lobbying, research and policy needs of long term care providers and has advocated for the people they serve for over six decades. Membership is open to nursing, subacute care, assisted living, adult day health care, comprehensive personal care and residential health care facilities. HCANJ’s proven advocacy program has helped shape legislative policy in New Jersey and throughout the nation. HCANJ clarifies issues and bridges the bureaucratic and political gap for our members. Our aggressive government affairs program advocates for long term care providers and consumers and is actively involved in the development of laws and regulations to ensure that members’ interests are advanced and protected. A not-for-profit organization, HCANJ is supported by member dues and is governed by an Executive Board that is elected by the members-at-large.

Celebrating an incredible journey, last month James Gonzalez, President & CEO, retired from Broadway House for Continuing Care. Under his visionary leadership, Broadway House evolved into a premier healthcare facility, dedicated to providing the highest quality care to those, primarily from urban areas, with HIV/AIDS and other debilitating illnesses.., As Jim retires, we reflect on his significant contributions, not only to Broadway House, but also to the New Jersey healthcare community. For over 20 years, HCANJ has been proud and honored to have Jim serve with distinction on its Executive Board, including several terms as Chair. Jim, will be deeply missed, but we hope this new chapter is filled with as much success and fulfillment as the one he’s just concluded. Cheers to you, Jim! #ThankYouJim #RetirementCelebration #EndOfAnEra #BroadwayHouseLegacy
