Last week, Health Hawke’s Bay invited six eager and talented rangatahi into the E Hao E Pao programme. E Hao E Pao is a weeklong programme for rangatahi, to gain working experience with pharmacies and Māori Health Providers across Hawke’s Bay, all while getting paid too. The programme is designed for Year 12 and 13 students, offering them a chance to dive into the world of primary health while exploring exciting career opportunities. This is Tukituki Medical - a group of general practice staff who are about to embark on a model of care change to ensure their services better meets their communities needs. This evening Jess Morgan-French alongside Health Hawke's Bay hosted an initial model of care workshop with the team exploring problem statements, current practices and their aspirations for the future. Thank you to the team at Tukituki for being brave, for thinking of the sustainability of your kaupapa and the needs of your community. Last month at Flaxmere's Cook Island Community Centre, a Wellbeing Day was led by Pacific Sisters to celebrate Pacific women and wellness during Cervical Screening Awareness Month. With cervical screening, health checks, culturally safe talanoa sessions, performances and of course good kai, it was a successful event with plenty in attendance. We even had our own Nurse Lead and Model of Care Lead Tania Page promoting our services including Kia Ora Programme and Manu Taupua. Kia ora koutou, We have an exciting new role in our organisation and are seeking a Pasifika Senior Advisor | Pou Ahurea Matua to join us on a Fixed Term Role. In this role you will be conducting a comprehensive health needs analysis for Pasifika in Hawke’s Bay. This includes performing a gap analysis by collecting and analysing current community-based quantitative and qualitative research. Following on from this you will develop a strategic plan to address identified needs and propose business-as-usual (BAU) options for HHB to implement. Pou Ahurea Matua responsibilities also include: * Developing and maintaining strong relationships with Pasifika communities, engaging with leaders and members to understand their needs and perspectives. * Applying strategic thinking to interpret research outcomes and translate findings into actionable strategies. * Ensuring Pasifika voices are captured and inform strategic planning, interventions, programme and policy development. * Contributing to the implementation of any plans developed.
