Health, dignity and well-being – for every person, in every community.
About us
Everyone deserves the opportunity to live with health, well-being and dignity. Yet barriers rooted in racism prevent too many from living a healthy life – from housing to working conditions, from food insecurity to environmental factors, and from wages to the health care system itself. We know it will take collective action to change this. Together with our partners, we’re tackling the complex work across sectors and industries to remove barriers, center power within communities, and build a world where racial health equity is the standard.

We’re especially grateful for our funders and donors in this challenging fundraising year and very excited about the initiatives we have the support to continue in 2025. And yet, we still have a $600,000 gap we need to close by December 31st to sustain some of our existing programs. We deeply appreciate your help in giving - particularly to our efforts in food security, maternal health and innovation/R&D. Any amount, large or small, helps us continue to both meet the immediate needs of our communities and work to remove systemic barriers to health. Thank you for your continued partnership and investment in our shared vision of health, well-being and dignity, for every person in every community:https://bit.ly/3UzwiUN

Tomorrow ✨ In an upcoming webinar, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. and AAMC Center for Health Justice gather to discuss emerging civil rights challenges & advocacy efforts to protect health equity work. Check out words from moderator Philip M. Alberti below: It's not too late to join the conversation with Health Equity Community Collaborative! Register to attend, or to gain access to the recording, here: https://lnkd.in/ey3BGPfv
Founding Director, AAMC Center for Health Justice at Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)
Join me for a webinar hosted by the Health Equity Community Collaborative with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. as we discuss the current legal landscape for #healthequity programming. For me, achieving health equity (all communities having a genuine opportunity to thrive) requires sustainable changes to policies and practices that create authentic health opportunity for all communities, especially communities made marginalized. Yet in recent years, opponents of civil rights have brought legal challenges to policies and programs seeking to reduce inequities in education, employment, and other sectors. Health equity programs have also been targeted. For those who work in racial health equity, it is critical to understand the current risks and protections available to the important programs and services in our communities. Save the date - October 22nd - and join me in learning from legal experts about the history of race conscious programs, court decisions & advocacy efforts that may impact health equity programming efforts, and takeaways about what can be done to protect our health equity work. Babies too young to be vaccinated had the highest COVID hospitalization rate of any age group except people over 75, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. So how can we protect them? By vaccinating pregnant women, so they pass the antibodies on to their newborns. Jackie Fortier shares recommendations to increase immunization rates among pregnant patients in this article for NPR:https://n.pr/3Ys5ok1
