Happy Anniversary! June 1st, 2024, marks the 2nd anniversary of HMS ownership transition to an employee-owned company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)! ESOPs are formed when shares of a company are allocated to employees. They have been shown to provide numerous benefits to individual members, their companies, and local communities. Some of these benefits include increased employee motivation/productivity, improved retention, contributions to business longevity, and increases in local jobs. Below are some interesting details about ESOPs and HMS! ESOP Effectiveness! 1. Ownership & Culture: The sense of ownership created by an ESOP drives collaboration, innovation, and shared commitment to achieving organizational goals. 2. Outperformance & Resilience: Companies with ESOPs tend to outperform those that don’t, better weather economic shifts, and experience lower turnover. 3. Stability & Security: ESOPs empower employees to shape a company’s future and provide an excellent opportunity for savings. HMS as an ESOP! 1. HMS is 1 of just 25 ESOPs based in West Virginia! 2. While some companies are partially employee owned (such as 50%), with remaining shares retained by the owner – HMS is proudly 100% employee owned! 3. In 2023, 120 employees completed the necessary hours of service for plan eligibility.
