💭 Wisdom tooth extraction, also called removal, is a surgical procedure to take out one or more wisdom teeth. These are the four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of your mouth on the top and bottom. ➡️ If a wisdom tooth, also known as a third molar, doesn't have room to grow, it can become impacted. 🙌 Here’s a brief overview of the process: 1/ Consultation and examination: Initial assessment and discussion. 2/ Preparation: ➡️ Anesthesia: Local anesthesia (numbs the area), sedation anesthesia (relaxes you), or general anesthesia (puts you to sleep) will be administered depending on the complexity of the extraction and your comfort level. 3/ Extraction:     ➡️ Incision: If the tooth is impacted (trapped within the gum or bone), the dentist will make an incision in the gum tissue to expose the tooth and bone.    ➡️ Bone removal: Any bone blocking access to the tooth root is removed.    ➡️ Tooth removal: The tooth may be extracted whole or broken into smaller pieces for easier removal. 4/ Cleaning and closure: The site is cleaned of any tooth or bone fragments.   ✓ Stitches may be used to close the wound and promote healing (some dissolve on their own).  ✓ Gauze is placed over the extraction site to control bleeding and help form a blood clot. 5/ Recovery: You will be monitored as the anesthesia wears off.   ✓ Post-operative care: You’ll receive instructions on managing pain, swelling, and diet, as well as any prescribed medications. Follow-up appointments may be scheduled to check healing. Note: This is not personalized healthcare advice; for that, kindly refer to a #healthcare professional near you. UAE: Doctors advise locals to be vaccinated as flu cases increase due to changing weather conditions. As temperatures drop and residents return from summer vacations, UAE doctors report a rise in flu cases. Hospitals are seeing patients with fever, fatigue, and respiratory issues. Karim Sheikh, a 34-year-old sales manager in Dubai, experienced flu symptoms shortly after returning from India. "I thought it was travel fatigue, but within a day, I had a high fever and body aches," he said. Maria Lopez, a marketing executive, had a similar experience after her vacation, with severe cough and muscle pain. Dr. Nishi Singh, a virologist at Medcon FZC, noted that the change in weather and increased humidity create ideal conditions for flu viruses to spread. Many residents return from global travels, potentially bringing new flu strains that find a susceptible population in those who haven’t been exposed. Flu symptoms can last five to seven days, and any severe symptoms should be treated immediately. Vaccination remains critical. Dr. Jaya Geetha from Zulekha Hospital emphasized the importance of flu shots, especially for high-risk groups such as the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. “Even mid-season, the vaccine is still effective,” she said. Doctors also recommend preventive measures, including hand hygiene, avoiding close contact with sick individuals, and keeping high-risk individuals protected. If flu symptoms worsen, medical attention should be sought immediately. With the flu spreading, doctors urge residents to get vaccinated and practice preventive care to manage the illness effectively. For more updates,  visit our page. Photo CTTO

The Birth of the AI Scientists cannot replace Humans. Only Humans understand societal needs, directing AI towards research that truly benefits humanity. Scientific discovery is one of the most sophisticated human activities in history. Sakana AI introduced The AI Scientist: Automating Scientific Discovery. In collaboration with the University of Oxford and the University of British Columbia, researchers at Sakana AI have developed a system called "The AI Scientist." This revolutionary approach aims to automate the entire process of scientific research using AI, particularly large language models (LLMs). Key features of The AI Scientist include: → Automating the full research lifecycle, from generating ideas to writing papers → Conducting experiments and summarizing results → Implementing an automated peer review process → Iteratively developing ideas in an open-ended fashion The AI Scientist has several potential implications for scientific research: -Democratization of research: By reducing costs and computational demands, it could make scientific discovery more accessible to smaller labs and institutions. -Accelerated innovation: The system could significantly speed up the pace of scientific progress. -Diverse applications: While initially focused on machine learning research, the approach could potentially be applied to various scientific fields. BUT despite its promise, The AI Scientist is still in its early stages and faces several challenges: -Occasional flaws in generated papers -Ethical considerations regarding AI-driven research -The need for human oversight and verification of results While The AI Scientist represents a significant step towards AI-assisted scientific discovery, it's important to note that it is a tool to augment human scientists rather than replace them. The development of such systems must aim to enhance scientific capabilities and accelerate research, not to create AI entities that function as independent scientists. Only by combining human ingenuity with AI's computational power, we unlock unprecedented scientific potential, accelerating discoveries while maintaining ethical integrity and real-world relevance. ♻️ Repost this if you want your network to learn more about how AI changes science. UAE: Experts caution that burning incense may pose threats to one's dental and respiratory health. The comforting scent of incense, a staple in many UAE households, may carry hidden health risks. While widely used for its soothing aroma, experts warn that the smoke from burning incense contains irritants that can trigger allergic reactions and negatively affect oral health. In fact, 86% of UAE homes burn incense at least once a week, according to Environmental Health Perspectives. Research from NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) has revealed a link between incense use and changes in the oral microbiota. A study published in *Nature Scientific Reports* analyzed mouthwash samples from 303 Emirati adults, correlating incense use with shifts in the bacteria present in the mouth. This decrease in beneficial bacteria can lead to oral health issues like cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. Lead author Yvonne Vallès noted the importance of this discovery, emphasizing that while the research is preliminary, it highlights the need for further investigation into the health implications of incense smoke exposure. Vallès also pointed out the lack of public awareness and regulation concerning incense use, particularly in shared spaces. The risks extend beyond oral health. Dr. Sandeep Pargi, a specialist pulmonologist at Prime Hospital, warns that incense smoke can trigger allergic reactions and irritate the eyes, nose, throat, and skin. Long-term exposure may also contribute to respiratory and cardiovascular issues, including asthma, and even increased mortality from cardiovascular diseases. To mitigate these risks, experts recommend reducing incense use and ensuring proper ventilation during and after burning. While high-quality natural incense may pose minimal risks when used moderately, healthcare professionals stress that the impact of frequent exposure, especially in poorly ventilated areas, should not be underestimated. Maintaining good oral and overall health can help reduce the harmful effects of incense smoke. For more updates,  visit our page. Photo CTTO

We all have those genetic traits that we wish could have played out a little differently. Maybe a little taller, smarter or stronger. And then, there are the devastating genetic medical conditions that none of us want to have. What if you could pick & choose the exact genetic composition of your unborn child? Would you do it? https://lnkd.in/daQY9XMX 🚫 The Problem: *Natural reproduction is a genetic lottery. We don’t always know how our kids will turn out until they are born — healthy or potentially battling a devastating genetic disease. ➡️ The Current Solutions: #ReproductiveGenetics Through techniques like Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and Genetic Reproductive Medicine, we can screen embryos before implantation to reduce genetic disorders and improve outcomes. Some see potential benefits as follows; ✅Reducing Genetic Disorders & reducing long-term health burdens. ✅Enhancing Quality of Life, healthier lives, longer lifespans. ✅Empowering parents to gain more control over their decisions. ✅Improving IVF Success, higher chances of healthy pregnancies. ✅Potential for Positive Traits could make the world a better place. Others see potential risks as follows: 🚫Risk of Misuse: The slippery slope to non-medical enhancements. 🚫This tech isnt cheap, creating a genetic divide between rich & poor. 🚫Reduced Diversity, loss of genetic variation could have negative effects. 🚫Children might feel pressured to live up to 'designed' potential. 🚫Ethical Concerns: Are we playing God? Where’s the line? 🚫Unknown unintended Consequences: Is there long-term effects of altering natural selection. Is there a self preserving ''good reason'' why natural selection sometimes ''gets it wrong''. Big shout out to leaders in this space; CRISPR Therapeutics, Genomic Prediction, Igenomix, Part of Vitrolife Group Are you for, or against Reproductive Genetic Selection?
