About us
Healthfirst, one of New York’s largest not-for-profit health insurance companies, has earned the trust of close to 2 million members by ensuring access to affordable and high-quality healthcare. Sponsored by downstate New York’s leading hospital systems, Healthfirst’s unique advantage is rooted in its mission to put members first by partnering closely with its broad network of providers on shared goals. Healthfirst is also a pioneer of the value-based care model, now recognized as a national best practice. For more than 30 years, Healthfirst has worked with its network of hospital systems, community providers, and partners to improve health outcomes and advance health equity through better access to care—especially in underserved communities adversely impacted by disease, health disparities, and socioeconomic barriers to optimal health. Healthfirst has built its reputation in the community for top-quality products and services New Yorkers can depend on. It offers market-leading products to fit every life stage, including Medicaid plans, Medicare Advantage plans, Long-Term Care plans, Qualified Health plans, Essential Plans, and individual and small group plans. Healthfirst has dynamic team members from across the organization that help keep our members happy and healthy. Today, meet Nataliya Kraynova, one of our Sr. Product Owners. What is your favorite part about being a Sr. Product Owner at HF and why? It’s the challenge of balancing stakeholder needs, user experience and technical feasibility. Moreover, this role involves a combination of strategic thinking and hands-on problem solving. Describe your career journey at Healthfirst? I joined Healthfirst with a background in brokerage and banking having no knowledge of healthcare products. However, in a short period of time, I was able to acquire the healthcare knowledge necessary to hit the ground running. This success would not have been possible without my leaders and my incredible coworkers who believed in me and guided me. What accomplishment are you most proud of so far in your career? Maintaining a strong trust-based relationship with teams and business partners, creating an environment where team members feel valued and empowered. This is crucial for any successful product development and delivery.

At Healthfirst, the communities we serve drive our dedication to providing access to the high-quality care they need. We are proud to share that Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services awarded our largest Medicare Advantage contract 4.5 stars for quality (out of 5 stars) for 2025. And, we are the only Medicare Advantage HMO plan serving New York City and the surrounding area to earn 4.5 stars. This achievement reflects the commitment across Healthfirst to putting our members first. #HealthInsurance #NewYork #Medicare
