Are you considering offering 24/7 access to #telehealth services? Hackensack Meridian Health has joined forces with K Health to provide virtual access to doctors 24/7 in a service called HMH 24/7. "Where we hope HMH 24/7 will affect daily operations is particularly in transitions of care," says Daniel Varga, chief physician executive at Hackensack Meridian Health. "When we are trying to get patients from the hospital to home or emergency department to home, HMH 24/7 can provide the appropriate medical oversight." Read the full story at https://lnkd.in/gyi9sSm3

It’s important that everyone from revenue staff to executives understand the importance of #ROI in an #RCM solution. One Grady, the billing subsidiary for Atlanta-based Grady Health System, has a team of seven developers that build its RCM tools. Jacqueline Samuel, MBA, PMP, director of #revenuecycle integrity, #strategy, and analytics, says the team is small compared to larger, non-safety net organizations: https://lnkd.in/g-s-6xDY

Happy Tuesday! Here are some of the trends we are following at HealthLeaders. Remember our recent cover story about the rise of #advancedpracticeproviders (APP) that caused a huge stir online (https://lnkd.in/ek8Ha5-m)? Well, we were on to something. A growing number of health systems are creating APP executive positions, including VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, CommonSpirit Health, and Corewell Health. The new positions recognize the crucial role that APPs are playing in healthcare. Now add Cleveland Clinic to that list (https://lnkd.in/e9vEMHFc). The health system has used APPs for decades, and their numbers have grown from about 400 to nearly 4,000 over the past quarter-century. To coordinate that growth, #ClevelandClinic named Melissa Stoudmire MSN, APRN, CNP, as the system's first vice president of APPs. Stoudmire tells HealthLeaders how her new post allows Cleveland Clinic to bring APPs under one leadership structure and bridge care gaps (https://lnkd.in/e9vEMHFc). "We know that APPs improve access to care, and they help to expand the clinical services provided at a health system in multiple service lines," she says. "Nationally, there is a shortage of physicians in many specialties, and [they] can help bridge the gaps." In other news, today's massive #portstrike has wide-reaching implications. The strike at 36 ports handling one-half of U.S. ocean imports could cost the economy #5billion a day and will affect healthcare. The #pharmaceutical and healthcare sector that relies on a time-sensitive supply chain may see the biggest impacts and potential material shortages that could disrupt production or patient safety (https://lnkd.in/etmu6kFv). Also today, has #MedicareAdvantage lost its mojo? Forbes reports that health insurance companies are pulling back a little bit after years expanding their geographic footprints. With more than half of the nation's eligible seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans, competition has been fierce offering seniors more lucrative benefits and more choices. We have so many friends at hospital and health systems that were affected by the recent hurricane. I've been trying to reach out to everyone personally, but know we are thinking of you all.
