Over the past two years, Heart on Main Street has provided direct financial support to independent retailers impacted by natural disasters, helping them rebuild and reopen their doors. From hurricanes and floods to tornadoes, our grants have played a crucial role in restoring Main Streets and keeping small businesses at the heart of their communities. Every dollar given has helped a retailer replace inventory, repair damages, and get back to doing what they do best—serving their customers. The road to recovery isn’t easy, but with financial support, we’re making a real difference. Two years ago, Heart on Main Street made its first-ever donation to The Islander, helping them recover and rebuild after disaster struck. That moment was the start of our mission to support independent retailers in times of need, and seeing their resilience and determination has been truly inspiring. This donation—and every one since—has been made possible through the generosity of our partners and the independent retail community. Together, we’re proving that small businesses don’t have to navigate challenges alone. As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue making a difference, expanding our support, and seeing what future donations will make possible. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—this is just the beginning!

Two years after Hurricane Ian, we had the incredible opportunity to visit The Islander—the very first recipient of a Heart on Main Street donation. Seeing this beloved boutique back open and thriving was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Small businesses are the heart of their communities, and we’re honored to support their recovery and resilience.

Independent retailers are the heartbeat of their communities, showing resilience and determination even in the face of adversity. When Hurricane Helene hit, One Amazing Find faced incredible challenges, like so many small businesses in its path. But instead of giving up, they pushed forward—rebuilding, reimagining, and coming back stronger than ever. Now, they’re not just bouncing back; they’re growing! Their new second store, Gifted, is a testament to their perseverance and passion for serving their community. Thanks to incredible partners like nora fleming we had the opportunity to support this inspiring business through a meaningful donation. It was even more special to see so many vendor reps come out to celebrate and be part of the ceremony—showing just how much community and partnership matter in the independent retail world. This is what it’s all about—lifting each other up and celebrating the strength of small businesses!
