The tradition of trick-or-treating has its roots in Scotland and Ireland. Long before Halloween became a celebration of candy and costumes, people in these countries would go house to house in disguise, performing tricks or songs in exchange for treats. This custom dates back to the 16th century, forming the foundation of today’s Halloween celebrations. Our Rapid Employment and Development Initiative (READi) provides cognitive behavioral interventions combined with paid transitional jobs to help individuals heal, learn, and succeed. October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
