However, some counties are struggling to meet this target, falling significantly short of the goal. "We should care about this disparity across counties. Counties that aren’t doing a good job with kinship placement should be thinking about why they’re not." —Eunju Lee, Associate Professor, University of Albany This insightful article from The Imprint News explores why certain areas are facing challenges, the implications for foster youth, and how the state is working to address these issues. As we reflect on Fiscal 2024, we're thrilled to share the incredible strides we've made. This year, we assisted 208 young adults, a 39% increase from fiscal 2023, and provided over $405,000 in furnishings, a 10% rise from fiscal 2023. We’re especially proud to have supported 70 young families, including parents of 89 young children, helping them create stable and loving homes. We've also welcomed 4 new referring partners: Lawyers For Children, Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services, Cayuga Centers and Coalition for Hispanic Family Services. These milestones are more than numbers—they represent homes and stability for young adults and families. None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our community. Thank you for being a vital part of our mission. Here's to continuing this impactful journey and transforming even more lives in the coming years! 🏠 #RecordBreakingYear #FurnishingFutures #CommunityImpact #ThankYou

"Including the voice of the child in this process is critical." -Melissa Friedman, children's lawyer, The Legal Aid Society. An insightful article from The Imprint News sheds light on how New York courts are reclaiming their role in ensuring foster youth are placed in appropriate settings, rather than extended stays in group homes. Under the Family First Act, courts are now required to regularly review placements, with a focus on prioritizing the child's well-being and ensuring their voice is heard. For a deeper understanding of this landmark decision, read the full article. #HeartsToHomes #FosterCare #ChildAdvocacy #FamilyFirst #JudicialOversight #TheImprint
