It was a wonderful experience attending the Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC) 84th Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas last week. The agenda featured engaging speakers who covered a broad range of topics, including trends in artificial intelligence, market regulations, datacenter growth, and the significant expansion of battery storage projects in Texas – soon to be the leading U.S. state for deployments with 6.4 GW of new battery capacity expected to be installed this year. Senior Manager Bobby Howard and Business Development Consultant Ken Gajdos were there proudly representing Hecate Grid, a new Business Alliance Program Member of TEC. While there, Bobby and Ken met with Varzavand Irani, PE “Avan”, CEO at Nueces Electric Cooperative (NEC). Ken is a former director of NEC, and then served many of the electric co-ops in Texas as a banker to their industry for over eleven years. At the conference, Avan was elected Chair of the TEC Board of Directors for the coming year. We would like to both congratulate and extend best wishes to Avan and the TEC Board of Directors as they lead the organization in the next twelve months and beyond to serve and advocate for the state’s electric cooperatives and their members. Attaining NRECA's CCD, BLC, and DG certifications 3. Servicing rural energy consumers as an independent propane marketer for nearly three decades Ken's deep expertise and dedication to cooperatives and their members will be a tremendous asset as we continue to connect our customers to innovative energy solutions. Well this was fun! I got to speak on a panel discussing energy storage’s role in the clean energy transition and Inflation Reduction Act alongside my wife, Jenny Spaulding. Thank you Diana Bustamante and ITFA for the invitation!
Sending a big thank you to my wonderful Energy Transition panelists who graciously agreed to speak at the ITFA Americas Annual Conference in Chicago last week. Brittany Starck Pinkerton from ECP (Energy Capital Partners), Richard Dovere from C2 Energy Capital, Jenny Spaulding from Vestas and Bradley McCandless from Hecate Grid. So nice of you all to share your experiences and thoughts with us — positive comments on the Inflation Reduction Act, yet frustration with backlogs in permitting across the board, fascinating new technology around longer blades and gravity powered storage. Britt- I’m still visualizing the individually wrapped cheese slices …
