🌻 Concluding the second annual HelEx meeting in Graz, Austria Today marks the conclusion of the second annual HelEx meeting in Graz, Austria. Over the course of the past three days, we have engaged in great workshops, presentations, and a lot of discussions between partners. In addition to these exchanges, we had the pleasure of visiting the Haidegg Research Center, to discover its expertise in crossbreeding tests for apple and stone fruit trees. We also discovered their agrivoltaics experiments and had insights into their winemaking processes. Thank you to all the partners and speakers who have contributed to the success of this meeting. #HelExProject #Collaboration #HorizonEurope ENSFEA Toulouse Hiphen IFVCNS INNOLEA SAS AGRO Toulouse-Ecole Nationale Supérieure Agronomique de Toulouse-ENSAT Toulouse INP - Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse INRAE INRAE Transfert SAS Julius Kühn-Institut JOANNEUM RESEARCH Carinthia University of Applied Sciences / Fachhochschule Kärnten MAS Seeds NapiFeryn BioTech RN20 Syngenta The University of British Columbia The University of Georgia University of California, Berkeley Wageningen University & Research INTA Booster Project EU TOLERATE EU Project AGRI4POL Project

Senior Researcher at UNESCO Chair of Sustainable Management of Conservation Areas, FACHHOCHSCHULE KÄRNTEN
“Nature is at the farmer’s heart.” So remarked a participant at last week's EU CAP workshop "Promoting pollinator-friendly farming" held in Ljubljana. I was honored to present a poster on methods for biodiversity assessment in the Horizon Europe project HelEx. The crowd found my topic of climate-smart and biodiversity-friendly sunflower cultivars intriguing and highly relevant. Our interactive sessions included discussions on motivators for participation, indicators and policy at national and Europe-wide levels. A field trip brought us to some unique agroecological sites where we were shown locally effective measures for sustainable field management. #Conservation #UNESCOChair #FHKärnten #HelExProject #FutureofCAP

The 71st annual meeting of the Association of German Bee Research Institutes was held in Münster, Germany, from 19 to 21 March. Salena Husband, from the Julius Kühn-Institut, presented the initial results of the HelEx European research project on sunflowers. The conference, organized by the beekeeping team at the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture, was a crucial opportunity for scientists and beekeepers from Germany and neighboring countries to exchange ideas. Discussions on the latest advances in ecology, bee and plant protection, bee products, genetics and breeding, physiology and behavior, and bee pathology were on the agenda. The HelEx project plays a key role in all of this.
