🌟 Employee Spotlight: Malia Buchanan, Development Administrator 🌟 Today, we're excited to feature Malia Buchanan, our dedicated Development Administrator. Malia has been with HCP for 8 years and is currently supporting the Design and Construction team by managing project controls and developing workflow functions for our new construction software and ERP system. Malia's journey with the company began in September 2016 when she joined the Human Resources department as a part-time Administrative Assistant. Despite having no prior HR experience, she quickly adapted, learning the HR & Payroll system and becoming a certified Human Resources Professional (aPHR and PHR). Over the years, Malia transitioned through roles, including HR Administrator and Recruiting/Onboarding Specialist, before making her move to the Development, Design, and Construction department in 2023. Her favorite line from our manifesto is “We value people who value people,” a reminder that people are at the heart of every achievement. One of her proudest accomplishments has been her HR certifications, and she's shown incredible resilience, contributing to the growth of the HR department from 4 to 15 staff members, supporting over 1,300 employees. When asked about her favorite property, Malia chose the Ironworks Hotel in Beloit, which she feels reflects the All-American spirit of the city. Outside of work, Malia enjoys hiking with her dog in the forest preserves of Northern Illinois, traveling, and seeking out delicious Filipino food. One benefit that’s made a lasting impact on her life is the 401k program, which she’s grateful for as it allows her to catch up on her retirement savings. 🌟 Employee Spotlight: Sue Griffin 🌟 Meet Sue Griffin, the Vice President of Interior Design at HCP, who has been an integral part of the company for an impressive 22 years. Sue’s role is multifaceted, involving everything from the conception of brand voice to researching, presenting ideas, sourcing purchases, and overseeing the final completion and design of various projects. Her passion for design is matched by her commitment to HCP's fundraising initiatives, keeping her busy and fulfilled. Sue's journey with HCP began over two decades ago when she was approached by Ken and Diane while working for a home builder in Janesville. Starting as an Executive Assistant when the company had only eight employees, Sue quickly became involved in the rebranding of the Ironworks Hotel in Beloit. Her dedication and talent for design led to her current role, where she continues to create inspiring spaces and experiences. What Sue loves most about HCP is its commitment to the community, which aligns perfectly with her favorite line from the manifesto: "Community matters." This belief has guided her throughout her career, especially in her notable achievement of founding the "Rockin’ the Greens" fundraiser. For ten years, Sue spearheaded this initiative, raising funds for cancer research—a cause very close to her heart. Among all the projects she's worked on, Blue Collar Coffee stands out as her favorite. It took her three years to convince our CEO to embrace her ideas for the brand, but in the end, she succeeded, and it remains a highlight of her career. Sue also deeply values the flexibility that HCP provides, especially when it comes to balancing work with personal and family matters. This perk has given her peace of mind throughout her time at the company. Outside of work, Sue enjoys hitting the road for trips, exploring dive bars, and taking on remodeling projects. Her passion for creativity and design extends beyond her professional life, making her a truly unique and valuable member of the HCP team. Exciting news - Sue is growing her team! She is currently hiring an Interior Design Manager. Check out the link to review the requirements and apply! https://lnkd.in/g4PgnBpb
