Objectives of the position are to mitigate inmate tension, improve inmate attitudes toward incarceration, assist inmates toward positive integration back into the community, and assist in coordinating services for homeless residents toward self-sufficiency. 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 🚧 This morning, Hernando County inmates were busy taking on the aftermath of the recent storm by assisting in the cleanup of Chinsegut Hill Retreat and Conference Center. These inmates are helping to restore the beauty of our community, one step at a time.

Our inmates had a busy day today, helping with storm recovery. This morning they spent some time at Bayport Park then they moved on to the shelter at West Hernando Middle School to break it down. This afternoon, they spent a few hours at Jenkins Creek cleaning up debris. They’re getting some rest now, as they’ll be back out tomorrow.

SHERIFF NIENHUIS DISCUSSES STORM RECOVERY EFFORTS For those affected by Hurricane Helene and are in need of access to personal hygiene care, showers, restrooms and laundry services, personal hygiene trailers will be temporarily available at 4054 Shoal Line Blvd, Hernando Beach, FL, 64607, until further notice. For reference, this is where the old R Beach restaurant was located. Must bring your own soap, towels, laundry detergent, etc. _______________________________________________________________________ Hernando County received FEMA Federal Disaster declaration for both Public Assistance and Individual Assistance. This center will be open daily throughout the week. This is a one stop place for individuals looking for information, SNAP benefits, supplies, resources, or meals. _______________________________________________________________________ As of September 29, 2024, the Hernando County Executive Policy Group has extended the Local State of Emergency declaration for Hernando County, PROCLAMATION NO. 2024-05. This declaration provides Hernando County Government the authority to take action as needed to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our community. This includes making emergency purchases, obtain additional resources, renting equipment, hiring workers, utilizing volunteers, etc. The Local State of Emergency will be in effect for seven days, or until rescinded.
